4.3l to 2.8l Swap

How Practical is it?
LL2
The carbureted LL2 ("R-code") was produced from 1982 to 1988. Another LL2 ("R-code") with throttle body fuel injection was produced from 1986 to 1993. Output of the TBI version was 125 hp.
1986–1993 Chevrolet S-10/Chevrolet S-10 Blazer

this would happen in a 1989 chevy s10 blazer 4x4 4.3 engine Vin "W"

this is just a thought.
Thank You

why would you go from a 4.3l to a 2.8l. that doesnt make a whole lot of sense....

never said "I" was or am, Just a thought, always seeing guys going from 262 to 350's just wondering if anyone ever went down :icon_banana:

Twip 01-17-2013 12:12 AM

i would think that if they went down, it would be from a 350 to a 262. i personally have never heard anything good about the 2.8l. and pretty much every one knows that the 4 banger doesnt have any guts to it.

The only time they go down they still go up. thats when they swap in a 4bt diesel (pretty much a 4cyclinder). but I have never heard or read of anyone going down. always up. but whatever floats the boat

Ill take a 60 degree over any 90 degree v6 but I wouldn't swap one out. I'd pull a boat anchor 4.3 for a v8 any day of the week tho.

I don't understand why taking going from completely different families and comparing same families. I can see 2.8 to 3.1 or 3.4 60 degrees since they the same family and don't require all new parts. Compare a 3.3 to a 3.8 or a 4.3 90 degree v6.

The 2.8 is a crappy engine if you want to go down go with GM 3.8

Diaita 01-17-2013 10:28 AM

The 2.8 wouldnt bolt in, the bellhousing is different. That said, if you had the transmission to go along with the 2.8, its certainly possible. The 4.3 is a far better engine than the 2.8 imo.

Thank You to all who replied, it was just a thought thats all, my dream is to drop a 350 into my blazer but ill wait till the 262 gives out on me first.
