Default 4 Door build...

Well I am coming from the s10forum Rex let me in on this place. Figure I'd start a build thread here.

Well I purchased a 97 4door Blazer 4x4 sight unseen from a friends ex hs gf for $500. Gas tank was out of it and fuel sending unit was broken. Needed a fuel pump, sending unit, pressure sensor, And was horrifically nasty inside. on to the pics...
Outside as it was delivered to me

Not bad but need's a lot of work.

240k

Passenger carpet. Freaking nasty...

Even worse under back seats. Yes those are live maggots..

One of the front seats. I just cleaned the covers still on the seats. Figured I am going to buy a good set of waterproof seat covers anyways...

Carpeting after power washing. Still wet but it turned out a lot cleaner and less like a crack houses carpeting...

Oh did I mention what I found on the passenger floorboard the day I got it? I think this is some sort of female condom? I have no idea but prompted me to disinfect the whole inside of the Blazer.

So got the fuel pump and tank installed. Drove it for the first time and found out it had no power brakes. Really ticked me off as she drove it down the interstate daily with 3 young kids. So I purchased a new master cylinder and brake booster for disc rear.

I originally wanted to swap motor, trans, transfer case and axles out of a 89 Dodge Ramcharger part's truck I had. But I sold them and bought these off of craigslist for around $180.

A D44 and matching 14B FF out of a 74 3/4 ton Chevy camper special.

So you see where I am headed with this Blazer. It wont happen overnight as I have kids and work nights and some days just want to relax. Also have to learn to weld.

Also picked these up off of craigslist...

The guy wanted $700 for the 8 bolt Hummer rims with tires and runflat/beadlocks. Talked him down to $500 on the phone. They were supposed to be 37" radials but ended up being 36" bias ply. Wasn't really interested and he said how about $350? Could not pass them up for that price.

So all together I am about $2000 into this Blazer. Will be doing stuff here and there. will mimick a lot of Rex's build. As his is one of my favorites on the s10forum.

For paint I am going to go with a flat brown and let the four kids go crazy with different colors of flat spray paint lol. I am not worried about what it looks like at all. Just as long as it fuctions and is safe. This will be a vehicle I take the kids out wheeling in so mild stuff most of the time.

I have other hobbies so this is not my main focus. Just something to not get burnt out on the other ones.

Yea I've seen your s/n on there.

I was wanting the radial 37's but for the price I cannot complain. I thought of going with radials up front with these in the rear but I probably will just upgrade to all radials down the line.

I cleaned up the rims while bbq'n today. Also threw some paint on them. I liked how they turned out. A little overspray but a rag with thinner took care of that.

With a truck like that it's got to have a name! I'd open for community input. Mine would be "Crack House Masher".

Well I paid off my lawyer, Paid for my son to go to a private school, uniforms, books and just contacted my lawyer to revoke her parental rights. So that will be at least $4000. So I put my Xtreme up for sale. And when it is sold that will go to finishing it. I have been real busy with my boy. It has been hard on him and I have been focusing on him. School starts n three weeks so I will have the time then. It has not been forgotten.

Well I procrastinated on placing a ad on craigslist. Within 2 hrs three guys contacted me and are coming by tomorrow to look at it. So looks like it will be sold. So the build will continue. Going to take some time to refresh what parts I am needing and such. As I have not made a list yet. First is to buy me another AR. Since I sold all of mine to help pay for my lawyer. I will post more once I have a parts list and parts ordered.

Well the Xtreme sold today. So have money to blow once again. Will order rear discs pads n rotors, gears, hangers and drop the trans off for a rebuild. Go junkyarding for some springs and buy new bearings and ball joints and histeer. That should be just about it. Will have to sit and price everything out. Have 4k to spend.
