I went out this morning and the truck started
it was 27 degees today and i guess it beats negative temps these pass nights
My fuel line must of defrosted with the gas antifreeze stuff i added to the tank

I also got my light bar back on


Im going out soon to burn the rest of the bad gas

then imma fill her up and give it some dry gas

 

The truck has been running great . It just hit 140k tonight

My temp control cable snapped out of the control piece so i fixed that once i got home

Im still saving up to get my front end repaired
but as we speak IM going to make led tail lights for my truck Since they dont make any for 1st gens

I found this idea from a fellow forum member Blazin_jason and the pictures are from him also

I made my self a diagram to make me understand how to solder every thing and how to wire it up

Thogert helped me understand the process and i would of been still confused if it was not for him

Mine are going to look a tad different but thats because id hate to copy every thing he did

I've always heard that LEDs don't "throw" light enough to be good taillights. Looks like a good project though, can't wait to see how well it works out.

 

eh these look bright enough and im using the same design he did

they just gonna work differently since im not using resistors

plus 84 leds each taillight should be alright

the bulb ones dont provide enough light

 

When you hear that they don't throw the light, it means that they don't light things up at a far distance very well. They can, however, be seen from a longer distance. Just remember that the newer traffic lights are leds.

 

and alot of new cars factory brake lights are led's as well. even our 3rd brake lights (2nd gen) are led's aren't they?

alrighty guys I started the led project tonight
I dont have every thing on hand but atvwarrior sent me some taillight housings
thanks again bro

tonight i got them open the drivers side i wont be able to use since it was cracked but it was a great practice to see how to open it

they both came out great to bad the driver side lens is cracked



I hopefully going to be ordering the materials to make the led boards soon
and an other tail light to finish the project

 

I can't wait to see them when you get them done.

 

yea me too they arent gonna look to pretty when i seal them with rtv but eh whos gonna know when there inside the body
