Ive got a 2000 blazer 4wd in blue pretty much stock. looking for some suggestions as i progress along. kinda in mind im 20 years old and sophmore in college and only working summers.

what ive done so far:
Spectre cold air intake
new NGK plugs less than 100 miles ago
blacked out rims
tinted rear tail lights and a 4th LED brake light between bumper and tailgate
cobra CB and 4' Firestick whip mounted on tire carrier and a PA system. And YES i have been pulled over haha

what i wanna do:
shackles and t bar crank
Pro Comp rock crawler mock bead lock wheels
mud tires. (need suggestions)
spyder smoke cab lights (like the ones on newer D-maxes)

tire choice all depends on how much lift your going to be going with, and what pa system do you have

its just a cheapo from radio shack. not sure on the wattage, i think its a 55W. I didn't have very good connections. so long story short i was driving through a creek and it got the connections wet and shorted it out. it was only a $30 some speaker but yeah it doesnt work very well anymore. i don't think i'll replace it because it's got me in trouble on more than one occasion haha

and i wanna run either just stock size wheels.. or maybe 16's. my mom isn't to keen on lifted vehicles and since she pays my insurance i better not go against her wishes to bad

trobbins 03-07-2013 04:27 PM

i would stick with the 15's, but you can lift it without spending more than a few hundred bucks, and are you wanting all-terrains or mud tires totally diff

00chevblazer 03-07-2013 09:48 PM

mud i think. i use her for gettin to my favorite huntin spots :)

added some rear helper springs today. took about half hour total and was super simple. just got some cheap ones from Auto Zone. they took it up probably 1" maybe 1.25". Doesn't help I've got 150 lbs of sand in the back that i need to take out. next step is to add shackles.

i also painted the front black. need to do some touch ups but i think it looks pretty mean.

Got myself some shackles. Should be here on Wednesday. Should have em in by the weekend :)

ohsofly 03-09-2013 09:17 AM

Gonna need longer shocks with the shackles too if they are 3". I found that the Z71 full size trucks rear shocks are the perfect length for a 3" lifted blazer.

00chevblazer 03-09-2013 12:16 PM

Yeah i might have to look into that.. did you just go to a junk yard and pull em off a truck used, or buy em new?

next to a little 2wd :icon_wink: also my shackles will either be here tonight or tomorrow so i will hopefully get them on by friday! i (knock on wood) won't have any trouble with the passenger side because it was replaced last year to pass inspection and got brand new everything, but the driver side is gonna be a royal biaatch. been spraying it 2-3x a day with some PB so hopefully that'll do some good. also gonna get 1.5" wheel spacers and bring that skinny rear end out here within the next few weeks!

Your truck is coming along. I really like the blue paint you have on your Blazer.

00chevblazer 03-12-2013 04:07 PM

thanks! yeah i haven't seen many in that color, but she could use some fresh paint. the many pricker and tree limbs that have scratched paint are kinda beyond scratch filler :icon_doh:

like i said before, i knew the passenger side shackle lift would be a breeze as it had been replaced last year to pass inspection. well it was. took about 30 minutes total for that side. got it all buttoned up and good to go.

moved onto the drivers side and holy hell this sucks! spent almost 4 hours banging, torching, banging some more, cutting. finally got it out. I ended up having to use a ball point removal tool (pickle fork my dad calls it) and a piece of pipe for a cheater bar to get some leverage and melted alot of the bushing and drilled it out. got it out and moved onto the top and i just said screw it. just got in not to long ago after starting around 3. got it sitting in the garage up on jack stands with half of the lift on. so now i am left without a vehicle to go to school tomorrow so i have to use my moms trailblazer :icon_shrug:

I really could use some suggestions as to getting to the top bolt. the collector box/charcoal thing is on the right side and gas tank cover on the left(if you were laying underneath) and leaves you VERY little room to do anything.

oh and does anybody know the torque specs i should run the bolts to? i put em at 95 lbs but i am just curious. here is some pics as well. and where to get new bushings, and what grade bolts do you recommend??

00chevblazer 03-15-2013 09:05 PM

Turns out I had it made on the drivers side top bushing. Just took the back plastic corner off and the little charcoal canister or whatever it is and got the nut off easily. Then used a torque wrench and set it to 140lbs and just kept turning and turning it and it finally went. Then got a ball joint puller and got between the shackle and frame with a cheater bar and pulled as he tapped with a hammer and she slid right through. No torching bushing or anything! Made a bushing press out of 1/2" all thread, a 2" pipe cap, 4 nuts and a couple fender washers. Put a little motor oil in the eyelet and she slid right it. Overall it really wasn't too bad. I also like the fact that I'm doing it all myself and not paying someone:)

Ill get pics up in a bit. Also getting stainless exhaust done Wednesday at 10am!

Got duals put on this morning. My dad has been going to this place for years to get his trucks done. SUPER fast service and really great prices. Got there right at 10 when i was scheduled to be there and was done by 11:30. Didnt get em run exactly how i wanted them but it was going to be a pain and would have to run em inside the leaf pack. Got everything on in 2.5" full stainless with 3" used magnaflow tips for exactly $400. IMO thats a pretty decent deal considering i got quotes from other places for upwards of $600 closer to $700.

Got a nice rumble when starting up and sounds nice and smooth and throaty on take off. Not at all like a riced out Honda with a fart can. I love em. Next time i wash my truck i will take some polish and those tips will shine right up.

00chevblazer 03-24-2013 02:38 PM

got a new thermo installed as well as core flush. runs nice warm air now and engine is running much warmer. was hoppin around from 140-160 now its like 180-190. I got a Duralast 195* from Autozone with a warranty for $8.56. Inspection is next up. Hopefully everything is good to go, but i think the passenger side quarter panel has a nickel size rust hole on the inside so i might have to address that here soon.

okiedoak20 03-24-2013 06:19 PM

your moving right along, where did you mount the cobra 25

00chevblazer 03-24-2013 06:25 PM

I put it under the drop down cig lighter in the little compartment in front of the cup holders. I lose the little compartment to put my phone into, but its a big CB so it was where i was limited to.

trobbins 03-25-2013 07:40 AM

looking really good

00chevblazer 03-25-2013 09:40 PM

well just got home from work and hopped out of my truck and smelled hot radiator fluid. greatt. popped the hood and looked around the new t-stat i just installed yesterday, seals perfect no leaks there. Look at the hoses where i reconnected them to the engine after flushing, the farthest left one is fine, look at the one behind the belt and its leaking slightly. hmmm. guess i need to look at in the daylight. im thinking maybe get a new hose, and a new clamp. i think the clamp might have gotten just weak enough from opening and closing it, it may have lost some of its tension. so i will get a 3/4" adjustable one tomorrow and go from there!

15x8 Black Wheel Alloy Ion Style 186 5x4.75 - Rims - Style 186 - Black - 5x4.75 - - 8 - 83.82 - 25

Will these bad boys fit on my truck? I've got 2" shackle lift in the rear and 1.5" in the front. Also what size rubber should I wrap them in? I'm looking at 31x10.50r15, just not sure on a brand, or maybe just stay stock size. I kinda switch from driving on the road to off road gettin to my hunting spots. I'd like an A/T cause I dont need a full M/T.

I'm kinda new to the whole wheel and tire world so can someone please help??

ended up cancelling the order on the 186's after I thought about the chrome and how it would clash with my truck. Everything is blacked out on mine, and i think the chrome wheels would look goofy. I am going to order the Ion 182's here in the next few days and look about picking up a set of used MT's from either a junk yard or a couple local tire business. How does everyone like the looks of em? I dig em.

trobbins 03-28-2013 11:36 AM

imo i could do either or they both look really nice

00chevblazer 03-28-2013 11:06 PM

i have seen the 182's on some jeeps and i THINK the new Tundras have them, or close look a likes, and when they get dirty then don't look very good. I still can't decide if i want the 186's or the 182's. I am leaning towards the 186's though. I can get em for $87 a pop with lugs and center caps and stems.

00chevblazer 03-31-2013 09:27 PM

pickin up some Mastercraft Courser M/T's in 31's tomorrow. It was a kid i went to school with and i offered him $150 for a pair and he said deal. Now that i'm working at good ol Tractor Supply and got a flow of money coming in this build won't be going as slow.

Up next is replacing the passenger rear quarter panel and truck bed line both sides and finally finish debading. just need to take off the Blazer ones on the doors. Then new front plastics and new drivers side headlight.

new rubber. don't pay attention to that rust spot. its just very minor. thats where the replacement patch panel is. i just a half ast job rattle can painting it just before it snowed this year. it will either be rhino lined, or maybe buy a quart of paint and shoot it myself.

this picture is before the 31's. next to a stock blazer at school and a yoter on 33's. that truck is actually pretty sharp.

got the 31's put on this weekend. also finally had some great weather and got the all the rest of the debading done. it looks so much cleaner now i love it. oh and no rub at all even at full crank and turning into my driveway.

next step is to take the spare tire carrier off and sand it down and bed line it. my passenger side quarter panel will be replaced here in a couple weeks then i'll bed line the lower half as well. gonna order some rear spacers here soon to get the back equal to the front.

the second picture is my moms Trailblazer parked next to mine. It is exactly 2" taller, she is still convinced her's is bigger though!

testin out the new tires and helper springs today. both performed perfectly. i think my girlfriends parents werent impressed at the ruts i made. hey the yard was soft, and i have new deep lugs haulin a ton. no spinninage even reversing uphill. on my other tires i would have been spinnin like crazy. these new tires are awesome.

oh and the duals sound BA under a load! i love em.

here's a pic i took before my saw decided to quit working? :icon_rant:

Spyder Cab Light - JCWhitney

any opinions on these? I dig em and think they'd look sharp on my blazer. You just don't see many blazers with cab lights, especially ones that are from a D-Max.

just finished helping a buddy build a stinger bumper for his Jeep. Not a jeep fan, but damn this thing is a tank. he was pulling 30' trees roots and all up a 40 degree incline to get it into a fire we had the other night. We all had very little faith in this thing but the dude knows how to drive and built it right.

Its a 99 Cherokee Sport with a SA and 2" RC BL with 31" All Terrains.

He's currently in welding school, and come this summer after i can gather up some steel we're putting one on my blaze. i'm not to sure on the stinger front part, but we'll see what he can design.

he's wanting to start his own business after he's done and custom make offroad stuff. like skid plates, roof racks, push bars, bumpers, rock sliders, roll cages, whatever you can come up with.

this bumper is made of angle iron, diamond plate, square tubing, 2" well casing. It weighs prolly somewhere around 200 some pounds, and if you bend that bumper, you might as well figure your frame is effed as well haha.

here's some pictures. i know not many people look at my build, but i figured i would impress someone with some 21 year old's fab skills.

and maybe something along these lines. not quite as bulky and huge, but something that serves a purpose. https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1367193397

oh and those are the cab lights i'm ordering here in a week or so.

00chevblazer 04-29-2013 10:54 PM

had a rough idle and take off when my truck was cold so i took it to auto zone and had em read the code. got P0147. bad o2 sensor downstream after the cat (can't remember exact details but it was like bank 2 or something like that). so $49 later i got a new one and got her in within minutes and we will see how she is in the morning after sitting all night. hope it fixes it.

after he came back in and double checked the code to the computer in the store, he then literally pulled out his phone and typed it the code into google and he got onto this site! i thought that was pretty wild.

he then goes on and tells me if i replace the wrong one, it could throw my timing off by 13 degrees. said someone on here said it. not sure how that could happen, guess thats a real crazy example.

oh and my entertainment for the day was the guy having me pop my hood for some reason and when i got it open he thought it was carburated. really dude? haha he saw my cold air intake and big throttle body and thought it had a carb. i was just like no its a 2000 4.3, when did they ever carb something like that? haha i belt he felt silly cause i just gave him the most bewildered look. those people there have no common sense.
