The Branch Blazer - 99 Blazer Build

They are 3" wide springs but I'm pretty sure I can make a regular 2.5" springs work. A lot less hassle to make this one work than that Dodge axle! As for the rear, I'm kinda leaning towards a full width 9" or a Dana 60. Btw I meant to ask you, how did you convert your axles to 8x6.5 lug?

I don't mean the spring pack width, I mean the distance between spring perches.
Haven't done it yet, but will be drilling new holes offset from the existing ones. That's the easy part. Hard part is that the hubs are bigger than factory GM stuff, so I'm going to be turning them down so GM wheels will fit.

Ohh I got ya, I'm planning on moving the passenger side perch in towards the frame. I measured 33" between the inside of the perches, and the Blazer frame is about 31" wide at the front so if I move the passenger side perch inward and outboard the springs it should work fine.

then your diff won't be centered.

Finally got around to making a center console today out of an ammo can, I was even able to reuse the factory arm rest.
And also here are some pics comparing my bumper lights to the new lightbar...

You will need to leave the perches where they are on the axle and build your spring mounts accordingly. The driver side mount can not be moved unless you were to go wider with it which would not help anything. You can make it work but with the wider spring perches you are limited on how big of tire you can run because you will rub on the springs with big tires. This is why the 78/79 44/60 axles are so sought after because they have the diff father inward with a longer short side tube allowing them to have a 32.5 perch width.

One bump in the road after another! Haha I do appreciate the input from you guys, I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for you in the months to come as I start getting this thing closer

It's been a while since I last updated and mostly because the Blazer has been down since January due to the clutch slipping. I'm currently just waiting for our shop to get finished out here on the farm. We're putting up a 50x60' shop with a 2 post lift in it which will be awesome! But today I did manage to get out to the junk yard and grab an np231c tcase from a 96 that I'm gonna swap in when I do my SAS and I'm going next week to pick up a Ford 9" rear end.

You should have gotten an earlier u-joint style tcase so you don't have to deal with slip yokes. What was the reason you went with a dana 50 instead of that 60 you had?
