whats your reasoning to just cut the valence at an angle? I would just cut the whole valence off if you don't want it

Well I thought about that... but the left/right pieces of the top bumper are attached to it.. and I'd like those to stay. Plus I saw someone else do this to their blazer and it looked cool..
