I actually found a guy who is selling a set of mags. They look a lot like the rims you would see on an old Mustang. They look really nice. He's asking a lot for them though. $130 for two wheels and tires. I could probably find something for $50 total. I'm going to be taking a little trip soon to a couple places that sell that sort of stuff, so we'll see what happens.

Ok, so, to cut down on costs, I went ahead and tried to restore the wheels that I have. Talk about a daunting task. They are so bad! But, I went to Auto Zone and got this stuff by Rust-oleum called Rust Reformer. Takes current rust and turns it into a protected paintable surface.

Well, here's the results. The inside still looks like garbage, but no one will see the inside because of the tires:

The outsides still look pretty good. Not the best, but will do for now:

I also got the front axle painted silver. It looks really good:

I broke the rear axle. On accident, though. I was trying to get the center bolt out so I can mask it off and paint it; failed miserably. I got the bolt out, only to realize that it wasn't meant to be taken apart without consequences. So, I turned back and went to put it back together. One of the nuts was being a pain to get back on, and when I finally did get it back on, I tightened it too tight and shattered the o-ring into a thousand pieces.

I'm going to be making a trip north of me fairly soon, so I'll have to pick up either A: a new axle, or B: a new o-ring. *sigh*

Well, not getting them mounted tonight. I have to get up super early tomorrow morning, so it looks like I'll be getting them mounted tomorrow after work. I put another coat of paint on the wheels though, and I took pics of the rims and the tires that are going on.

Here's the rims in their finished state. Gotta wait for the paint to dry:

And here are the tires that are going to be mounted. I went with knobby tires, because I knew that if I would have gotten something otherwise, they wouldn't last as long. These will hopefully last a decent amount of time:

Very soon, I'll get this thing into rideable condition. I still need to get some sort of braking system. I'm thinking of a band brake system. One that mounts to the clutch as apposed to the back axle. We'll see though. I may just stick with using my feet as the brakes. lol

I got the tires mounted. They are looking sweet! What I need to do, is take each individual bolt and get them cleaned up. They are looking nasty with the rims the way they are. I'll worry about that another day though. As for now, I'm almost done! I just need to get one gasket that I broke, and I'll be able to ride this thing around finally.

Here's some pics. The first one is the front tire mounted, and installed:

And the second pic is of the back sprocket set for mounting, but I didn't get it fully mounted because I still need to clean it up and get it painted. That'll most likely be tomorrow after work:

What do you guys think so far?

That is one of the next things on my list. I'm not worried about that right now, but among other things, that is on the list.
