Default First Gen SAS

Alright everyone I’m kicking off my SAS build. I’m going to lay out my plan and id like any feedback that will make this easier, better, more functional etc. here it goes. First of all this is all happening on my 89’ s10 blazer 4.3L 4x4

I’m swapping in a high pinion Dana 30 from an 89 wrangler, going to a posi lock system. I’m keeping the GM 7.5 10 bolt rear axle. Re-gearing both axles to 4.56. I am thinking about doing the stage west cross member. If anyone has a good diagram for this please post it up. The one I found over at s10-4x4.org is hardly legible. My fabrication guy is going to need a good diagram.

Now this part I am expecting some debate over. With the SFA I’m leaving the springs under in the front and going spring over in the rear to level out the truck. The reason for this is to save cost on the high steer setup I would otherwise have to invest in. with the spring under it is practically a perfect fit for the s10. With the research I have done it looks like it will work just fine and I will include pics for your review. the pics are of other s10 blazers with spring under up front and over in the rear from s10-4x4.org SFA rigs.

So there is my basic plan please let me know what you think all criticism is helpful during the preliminary construction.

don't know much about solid front axles but I'd like to learn more I'm considering doing a solid front axle swap down the road once I get a second car and my blazer would be the off road rig. whats the difference between the dana 30 axle and the dana 44?

the biggest difference between a 44 and a 30 is strength and price. a dana 30 is really only meant to handle up to 33" tires. a 44 can handle up to 37" tires. its a balancing game between what your project will need and price of parts.

ah ok I thought the 44's were stronger since the 60's are used for 40" tires. how big of tires are you planning on putting on? I see you are getting 4.56 gears that'll turn some big tires
