Aren`t there cheap ones in the USA too? I`ve always thought that there`all the cheap stuff...

Just stop blowing cv`s, then you`ll save enough for a winch...

lol... yea theres a smitty built 12000lb winch for $500 I've got my eye on, then I gotta figure out a winch plate. I'd love to have a welder.... butttt my truck doesn't fit in my garage and I blow fuses in there just running a few heaters

Check out my winch mount, you don`t need a welder for it. But it`s nice to have one...

yea I know I'd like to reinforce my bull bar, make rock sliders, and a better rear bumper, maybe some beefy axles lol, but now I'm just day dreaming. how much did it cost to make your winch plate?

Nothing, a buddy from the fire dept made it for me. Don`t know about the steel prices at your place, but it should only be a few $. It`s nothing more than a plate, you can even use some angle iron to mount the fairlead.
No problem, everyone can do that...

It`s just that easy... A plate with a few holes and two angle irons for the fairlead...

I think it`s the easiest mod (from the custom things) i`ve done on the car...

Today`s project:

I`ll add a cigarette lighter plug to the pump, so I can put it in whatever tank and have water easy available. The washer tank is for testing only. I have only about 8$ in this, and I really like it. Maybe I`ll add a heater to it later...

Then I made this special tool to help remove the visco fan:

Well, I just can`t get this thing removed. Will have another try later...

Every time I think I've seen it all, you come up with another gem.

I know you said cheap winch and you can get a superwinch and a Warn M8000 around $500 US. That was the route I was going until I found this:
Warn Industries - Ultimate Performance Series: PowerPlant HP

It even has kits that will allow you to plumb the vehicle for air lockers and air shocks. Ive seen these through dealers for under $1300 new. Seemed like the way to go for me. I know you had an old compressor motor you were trying to work with. Wasnt sure if you completed that. Space to mount things in a blazer are at a premium, this seemed pretty efficient.
