Just bought this 1999 Blazer 2dr 4x4 170k miles 6 days ago, paid 2500 for it.
So far I havent done anything to it yet, plan on lifting it 2.5" with some decent tires for some off road action.
Any ideas of what to do, feel free to give me your input.

Looks good.. you know thats a ZR2 right?

looks like it may already have some shackles on there rear too.

LeWhite 03-24-2013 11:14 AM

Yup ZR2 soos its already lifted. Its built for off road. $2500 you came up. Use your money to restore the truck not to modify it!

slcblazer 03-24-2013 12:59 PM

Seriously?? How can you tell that? I had no idea haha

warthogdriver 03-24-2013 01:54 PM

the wheel flares make it zr2.
in the glove box door there is a RPO decal with what your ride has. it will tell you gears, limited slip and it will have ZR2 on there as well.

good find, looks to be in good shape.

slcblazer 03-24-2013 03:32 PM

Well ill be dammed it is!
Yeah this thing is mint, I am second owner on it. Previous owner was an old couple that never took it off road or towed anything.
The only thing it needs are some new tires.

Jamaroon 03-24-2013 04:03 PM

Tires look undersized, should have 31x10.5r15 stock. small lift and some trimming and you can run 33's.

Nice score on the Z!

Should be good for now to do some offroading, going to get some new wheels and some 31'' tires in the next 6 months or so when I get some new shocks put on it.
I definitely think the wheels are way undersized.

okiedoak20 03-24-2013 06:02 PM

excellent score, im grooling with envy...

Blazer had been running a little rough and doing the hesitation stumble on acceleration. Swapped out my cap and rotor. Gotta say, it all but cured the stumble when I do my plugs and wires I expect it to be all gone.

https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...ine=1364700204
pretty bad and corroded, wouldnt be surprised if its the stock cap and rotor from 1999

Been looking around for a decent roof basket for my Z and not wanting to spend a ton on a basket I decided to make my own.

Went to home depot and got some EMT electrical conduit and self tapping screws. Took me a day to put it together and paint it. I only spent 60 bucks on the supplies and had all the tools.
Everything is bolted together with self tapping hex screws and surprisingly is extremely strong and solid, was able to stand on it and put all my weight without any bending
Specs on it:
48”L x 38”W x 6.5”H 3/4 tubing for the frame and 1/2 tubing for the cross members
going to be adding some diamond plate around the corners for the look.

what a great idea, and saved a ton of $$ at the same time. awesome, and the wheels look great

slcblazer 04-27-2013 01:22 PM

Thanks! I am really liking how it looks. Just gotta mount my spare up there.
My wheels are American Racing Outlaw

blaz 04-27-2013 09:34 PM

Looks great, but keep an eye on the folds/crushes. They will have a tendency to fracture with vibration.

Grimm 04-27-2013 09:59 PM

Looks great! I love the whole white/black stormtrooper look! lol Keep the pics rollin!

It means "American Infidel", its what the taliban fighters call Americans.

choppercopper21 04-28-2013 07:05 PM

Nice ride! I had a 2000 white zr2 just like it. You got that for a steal man. Great Buy!

choppercopper21 04-28-2013 07:08 PM

The top rack and new wheels really make it different.

I had some of those american racing wheels on my 2002 4 door blazer. They stuck out a little since they were 8inch wide so it was hard to keep it clean since I live on dirt roads. Looks sweet!

Yeah I have gone to Utah Lake and am doing a trip to Zions national park this month hopefully. I am thinking about running up to 5 mile pass this coming weekend.
