My ZR2 basher build

Brought home my 02 ZR2 last week and I am stoked! In highschool, my first truck was an S10 that I lowered to the ground and did a lot ofbody work on it with my dad. After that truck, I started working and commutingto DC so I drove stock commuter cars for the past 7 years. I recently startedtaking the train to work and decided it was time for a fun vehicle again, something I can have fun working on and driving.
She has some bugs that need ironing out:

Looks like a great start if you can get those few kinks figured out with minimal issues! Can't wait to see that hood as well as the lights! Keep us updated!

Thanks! That's what I'm hoping for! My ex mechanic father who helps me out aton is cringing at the thought of tracking down the electric problems but Ithink it’ll be fun lol.

Will do! I’m debating on whether or not to paint the hood. I’m thinkingabout black plasti-dip to match the bumper. I plan on Raptor lining the rockersand flares so it will go with that whole look and function…plus if I hate it Ican peel it off and paint it later. |

So I've been kinda busy the past couple rainy days...Installed a 2" cowl hood, cargo basket, shocks, and blacked out the grille and emblem. She looks like she's ready for the zombie apocalypse now.

Looking good man, a set of shackles and or AAL should fix that sag pretty easily

I've gotten a lot done since the rain stopped! I also took it wheelin for the first time this weekend and had a freakin blast.
The rear hatch is functioning good as new after discovering that every single thing that could possibly have been wrong with it, was wrong with it lol.
Sweet pic I took after playing in the mud: https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...7&d=1382373466 |

Put the hitch to use carrying some bikes this weekend. Took a trip to the mountains for some end of season downhill mountain biking.

Looks great! Same color as mine. I like the Cowl hood for sure.

I like trucks that are modified like yours- They have a few simple easy mods that make it look more sporty and less stock, but they aren't overdone.

Thanks for the comments guys!
I’m in the process of calling around to find a suspension shop that will re-arch my leaf springs to do away with my saggy ass and hopefully return my ride back to stock…the rear is way too stiff even with the new shocks. I’ve decided against bandaiding it with AAL or shackles. I found a shop that will do it but they’re an hour south of me…looking for something closer. Another user on here found a really cool local OHV park that I’m dying to go play at but I want to have my suspension issues (and a little front left tire rubbing issue) resolved before I take it out there. I found a small local spot that has some mud holes and trails that run back to the utility lines along the train tracks. There isn’t a “No Trespassing” sign posted anywhere so I’ve been going back there and playing in the mud. There’s a sick hill climb that I haven’t had the balls to even pull up on…I see tread marks where it’s been driven on but I’m still too much of a newb to even attempt it and I’ll gladly admit that lol. https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...1&d=1384531575 https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...1&d=1384531575 |

Last night I get home from work and jump in the truck and head down the road to run errands. I go over a speed bump and a few minutes later my stereo starts cutting in and out (like a CD skipping). I get out on the highway and notice that the truck is idling really rough and almost wanting to cut out. Light turns green, I go, truck dies. I fire it up, limp it to a gas station, it dies again. I fire it up again, it barely starts this time and the electrical system is fading in and out until it completely blacks out, locks the key in the ignition and gets stuck in park. WTF.
Somehow, the power cable running from the battery to the main fuse block popped out of its holders on the radiator support and fell down into my belts. The belt chewed through over 50% of the cable. Made for one hell of a Monday night :icon_mad: https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...1&d=1384872060 https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...1&d=1384872060 |

Cable replaced, 175 amp fuse in the link replaced...good as new for 20 bucks!
I think I'm changing my truck's name to Rihanna because the truck is dirty and likes to be beat: https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...1&d=1384970255 https://blazerforum.com/forum/attach...1&d=1384970255 |

i would do a bastard pack on your leafs. i went to the yard and got a couple of packs of springs and then combined that with the longest of my stock springs and wow what a lift. cost me 100.00 and an afternoon. it did such a good job i now have a raked look on my ride. |
