by the way where are you buying you're mounts/mani's/pan from? there are many kits I am seeing as well as custom stuff from many websites

The 6.0 is a slightly larger block I believe. The 5.3 and 4.8 share the same block tho. I went with a 5.3 due to cost and I can get the power I am looking for easily from the 5.3. I'm going to pick up a Sonoma from a co worker this spring that will get a 6.0 swap since I will be building that for big power to go fast
if you don't already have one I will suggest a body lift as it will give you a bunch of extra space come motor swap time. The only issue with that is I only know of one set of headers made to work with a bl. I think 2wd headers will work with an SAS since there is less stuff in the way but haven't been able to find anyone to confirm this for my. I just picked up a set of 98-99 F body manifolds after many suggested those over headers to me.

Okay cool thanks. I have a body lift installed already, and what a coincidence, my friend has his stock F body manifolds laying around from his 99 LS1 formula build. I will grab those from him tomorrow.
maybe a 5.3 swap is more reasonable.
what years should I be looking for?

Got my light bar a few days ago. very good build quality, I might open it up and put some RTV around it for a gasket to pro long life against the elements. other than that its very heavy and full metal.
42 inch bar.

so I got around to getting the brackets on the light bar and now I'm looking to install it, can't decide on where though. see if you guys can help me out.
let me know if I should move it up further or further back, on or off the basket.

I like the placement of the last pic but defiantly not on top of the basket.

yeah on top of the basket was a little dumb but function over form, I thought i could get a better angle.
i'll probably go with the position in the last picture.
depending on how bright it is I will be picking up some of their fog light pods and a 24 inch bar for the brush guard.
I have a lot of parts gathered for my blazer now actually but where I live the last 3 weeks it has been below 0 degrees. even my garage with a kerosene heater is just to cold.

Where'd you get the bar from? I'm looking for two 4" bars to replace the non functioning fog lights on my new Yukon.

This is a cheap (Eyourlife) bar. ebay for 85$ with a 4 year warrantee. Many 5 star reviews on it, it might be half as bright as a 1000$ rigid bar, but it is still extremely bright for 10% of the cost.
if you want high quality at a decent price. check these guys out. Hyperionled.com

finally got my light bar installed last week and here are the results.

drilled a hole in my roof and added a grommet and some RTV black silicone

installed my switch.

more pictures of drilling the hole

so end results are awesome, i will be buying more of these lights, you can't even tell my headlights are on when you're driving with it. I think i can see for a good mile ahead of me, and when its dusk and just starting to get dark, it makes it look like its 12 in the after noon.

These are obviously out of order, but here is another picture of install, to those of you afraid to drill into your roof, I pulled my head liner back just enough and fit a nut and lock washer up there, so A.) no one can steel it B.) You can't see it from the inside.
