Sounds nice. I had an 85 dime with a spanker 383 4bbl/350 trans. Was fun as hell, spanked muatangs, cut donuts till the cows come home, and did 4400rpm at highway cruise without the overdrive.

First mod should be finding a 700r4 trans so you get that 4th gear...
