got the grille off the other day...love the way it looks but doesnt rly fit right around the headlights...so i have 3 options and i want input....

1) keep the grille and work around the fitting issue

2) go to an OE year-correct grille (( :icon_no: ))

3) custom grille...possibly hide lights behind grille?

before & after below...

Maestro 04-11-2011 10:10 PM

update:

replaced the serpentine today.....one step closer to blazin' around

whats left...
wiring harness :icon_errrr:

DKSDAD 04-12-2011 12:14 AM

Good luck with your rebuild.

Maestro 04-13-2011 10:48 AM

thanks....i think the wiring is going to be the worst part...monitarily and physically...not looking forward to that at all

Benedict1337 04-13-2011 10:55 AM

yes... wiring is a PAIN lol just set a whole day aside and take your time

Maestro 04-13-2011 11:14 AM

since theres just a little of the wiring burnt up..im thinking about just buying the connections and just cut wiring to fit instead of dishing out 250$ for the complete harness

Maestro 04-14-2011 01:50 AM

any opinions on the afore mentioned grill issue anyone?...all input welcome...

You going for the Close Encounters look when you're rolling up behind someone? :icon_razz:

Maestro 04-16-2011 02:09 AM

lol didnt think about that at first...but i like it haha

Maestro 04-16-2011 12:46 PM

just gotta find different color lights and a keyboard now! haha

Maestro 04-19-2011 05:20 PM

thought of a theme for Sharlet....thinking a Black Widow theme...((IE 8 lights in front for "eyes" and a red hourglass on the back window....any thoughts or suggestions?

Maestro 04-25-2011 09:54 PM

okay got a choice here...

1) go for the whole wiring harness for around 250$

2) cut and splice the charred wires

3) use electrical tape and patch it...or use Liquid Tape

my vote is for the 2nd one...any advice?

oktain 04-26-2011 08:07 PM

Replace the burn wiring and have at'er with shrink tubing. Just make sure you use the right guage of wiring and your soldering is good lol. It'll be time consuming but you'll save lots of cash.

Oh, and *Name changed as per PM request*

BlazinAmazin 04-27-2011 07:31 AM

If it were me, I would go to the junkyard and pull a used wiring harness and install it and be done.

$250? that must be for a new harness.

Don't cut n splice, you are just asking for further troubles, or fires.

after months of looking and scouring everywhere to find parts i finally found something....

this project is finally on the road to recovery

new 2.8L wires and all and an upgrade to a 5sp. tranny

Benedict1337 07-14-2011 08:17 PM

hurray for fuel economy!

Maestro 07-17-2011 11:51 PM

started taking the charred wiring out today....going to continue tomorrow with the gutting and possibly transplanting of wiring and TBI

updates will be coming in as progress is made

TheRandom1 07-18-2011 07:17 AM

Good choice.

Maestro 07-21-2011 12:29 PM

got nearly everything hooked back up...just a few more odds and ends w the harness and a fuel line/hose and probly some brake work and she should be good to go!

Maestro 07-26-2011 06:13 PM

tried to move and reposition it the other day and something shocking happend....the rear wheels locked up and would only turn backwards....

transfer case and tranny were both in neutral

we're thinking it could possibly be the previous owner who possibly put the shoes on backwards...

Maestro 08-13-2011 01:30 PM

okay i got her all patched up...but gettin no fuel to the engine...theres a few loose wires that i dont know where they go...any help would be welcomed

chris015 08-13-2011 02:32 PM

Well, where is the loose wires? any connectors on them? colors? When you had the fire you may have blow a fuse or 2. check em if you have not. Get a volt meter and make sure the pumps getting power. check at the relay too.

Maestro 08-14-2011 03:31 PM

heres what they look like.... im suspecting the pink/black and brown one has something to do with the fuel pump...but not sure

ohsofly 08-14-2011 11:57 PM

Hey man, the second pic looks like it belongs on the back of the alternator.

If you have a look at my build, I appear to have the same grill that you have, I hate how mine fits and will be replacing it. I put red lights behind mine, and I think I wanna do a phantom grill on it.

Maestro 08-15-2011 11:12 AM

alright yall...i figured out where one of the wires goes...the 3rd and 4th pic....it hooks into the transmission :icon_doh:

aslo got the fuel pump off so ill try to see whats wrong with it...possibly replace it

**EDIT**
tested fuel pump...it works just fine..... noticed that the new harness has 2 relays on the drivers fender while the old has 3...so thinking that may now be the issue

Maestro 08-21-2011 12:06 AM

alright yall...finally figured out the problem......lack of grounds for the wires :icon_doh: so shes just about running now

Maestro 08-21-2011 06:44 PM

updated list of things to do to get her roadworthy...

brakes
timing(?)
zipties for the wires
tires

and thats it....just to get roadworthy (i hope)
only after that ill start the mods :icon_playing:

xgiovannix12 08-21-2011 08:52 PM

Glad to hear you got her running

Maestro 08-22-2011 12:17 PM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSBMdzu0Dp4

got a vid of her up and running for yalls entertainment

xgiovannix12 08-22-2011 12:28 PM

she sounds nice whats with it starting on third shot ?

Maestro 08-22-2011 12:42 PM

she hasnt run in quite a while...so proply just a few cobwebs that had to get flushed out

xgiovannix12 08-22-2011 12:44 PM

oh ok but i love the way she sounds

Maestro 08-22-2011 12:50 PM

thanks...the previous owner cut out the cat in the exhaust...but it has a slight exhaust leak...but ill get that patched up eventually

xgiovannix12 08-22-2011 12:55 PM

i got a small leak by the cat what can i do the patch it ? put a clamp ?

Maestro 08-22-2011 01:03 PM

umm...clamp maybe....or weld it....possibly JB weld? not sure if that would stand up to the heat tho

xgiovannix12 08-22-2011 01:07 PM

yea when my cat and muffler went up on fire i sorta bent the y pipe a little so its bent a little by the lip and its sounds sorta bad when you 1st start it but goes away when the motors hot

Maestro 08-22-2011 01:14 PM

yeah id just try to find the hole and probly just weld it or try to straighten it out and sinch it down

Maestro 05-12-2012 08:50 PM

alright i decided to resurrect this project, got some drastic ideas in store...

for starters, gota get 'er road worthy...

* fix the locked up E-brake cable
* battery
*fix the super rich-ness so im not tasting gas and not fogging mosquitos

MODZ

*1965 C10 front end conversion
*relocate gas door behind tail light
*((eventually)) V8
*paint

((maybe)) MODZ

*suicide doors with mirrors as handles
*chop top
