Rough Country 2.5" Lift!!!!
I just got off the phone w/ my guy @ 4wheelingplus.com & Rough Country just released the NEW IMPROVED 2.5" suspension lift just 2hrs ago haha. Mine is in the mail tomorrow!!! :D Link to rough country Chevy / GMC Suspension Lift

Awesome! Finally a decent lift that doesn't cost $$$. I'd love to get one but I'm not a fan of having to cut the differential in order to bolt on a new bracket.
Post plenty of pics once you get it on :) |
wow really you need to cut the diffy ?
now im glad i dont have 500 bucks |
I admit that it does scare me alittle to take a saw to something like the diff. but hopefully its worth it! :)
|
looks very scary to do who knows they might find a fix for it
|
notching the diff is sort or scary. But when I put the h2b conversion kit in my civic I had to notch a pretty big section of the back of the block. just measure a lot and cut once. Should come with a template of some sort.
|
I ain't skeered....but then again i've been wrenching and fabricating for a long time. I actually was going to (in my very little spare time) come up with a diff drop bracket system....now i don't have to because this kit is cheap....and considering i need shocks, upper ball joints (150k on the originals), and control arm bushings, it's almost cheaper to just buy this kit.
Although I don't have the money right now anyway :(....... BTW one more thing, :icon_worthless: |
yea it has a template
|
doesnt look that bad at all, just gotta take your time

:icon_qtank: put down the gun & know one gets hurt lol & sry I misunderstood lol.. I'll get some up as soon as I get the kit & get some time to do it.. 60hr wks make for short wkends lol & I feel like I'm gunna wonna long one b4 I try to tackle the kit.
|
Try 70 hour weeks sometimes across the country.....I have NO time to do my own work LOL
|
well I guess that makes me feel alittle btr lol.. I've got a PA 2in BL, Black Nerf Bars, & Soon the new lift... but no time to do it.. lol Its driving me nuts lol
|
Can't wait to see the "in progress" pics of this lift.
|
I'm more interested in the Alignment numbers/Durability of the kit. Their last one was a joke at the alignment shop.
2.5" shack lift - seems a little extreme to me. However, I love the idea of 2 1/2" lift with a 2" body lift and 32" tires - If it works out, I will be all over it! That would be 6" higher than stock for not a lot of dough! Any considerations on the above statement? |

|
What you doin, towing it on the back of your bus? Haha
|
dude thanks for the link!!!! this is the first lift ive found for a blazer lol
|
Well I'll get pics up as soon as the kit gets here to show ya whats in the box lol & as soon as I find time to get the sus. lift & BL on I'll have pics up asap! I feel like I should take a wk off from work just to have time & incase.. (because it ALWAYS happens) there are any issues.. lol
As fars as the alignment issues I'm hoping there isn't anything major minus the basic stuff.. I got an alignment done a couple of months ago on the truck when I did the T-bars & shackles so I have a 6mths free alignment at sears.. I bet they'll have a hay day if there's any major issues.. assuming they don't call me out on the lift kit.. lol. & No prob bud! I've been waiting since june to get the Kit. I ordered it & the next day Rough Country took it off their site so I've been waiting awhile.. haha |
I saw this kit linked on ZR2USA. They really, REALLY didn't like it. If I remember correctly it was mostly about the notching of the diff.
I personally don't have an opinion on it, just thought I'd let ya know because I just read about this on the other forum. |
WTF rough country been saying that they ben coming out with a lift for a while now and i save up money and today i gave up waiting and bought $500 worth of other.time to save once more
|
That sucks bud! lol well did you at least get 500 bucks worth of truck parts? lol
& IK! everyone is not really liking the idea of cutting the diff. which would be my guess on why they don't like it on zr2usa.. BUT ethier way its suppose to be in the mail on it's way to my house here anyday now. So ethier way the money is spent I might as well see if it's really as bad as everyone thinks .. I think most ppl get kinda scared when you have to do any thing that involves a saw-all on their vehicle.. including this guy. but hey if it works & save me money on cv shafts I'd say its worth it. |
Does anyone know how those shocks are in that kit becouse i just bought rs5000 and now i dont know what shocks when i get it i sould use
|
I put some RS5000 on my truck all the way around acouple weeks ago. word to the wise make sure you get the top bolts in the rear shocks all the way in I had one fall out & the shock snapped off at the top of the cylinder rod. lol I'm personally gunna put the shocks outta the kit on because they are meant for the 2.5' lift. The RS5000 seem to have a hard time when the suspension is full extented on my truck.

now my main question is, would this work on my 1999 two wheel drive 4door? I was looking at the instructions and it appeared as if it was for a 4x4, and it doesn't state if this is the case or not... if it does fit, then i'll ask other questions in a new thread, lol

You don't have a front differential and your front suspension is COMPLETELY different than a 4X4, so no this won't work at all for you. |
crud, oh well... thanks, any recommendations? (i'm trying not to thread jack, lol).
now if i had a 4x4, this would be another story! |
Yup, first suggestion is check out the lifting thread on here.

when is the 5" rough country one coming out?
|
irocz, are you planning on making this a build thread? It's kind of warped into a more generalized lifting thread and I might move it to the lifting section

I am also going to be a contender to the testing of this lift. I'm ordering it possibly tonight. It looks solid- the diff comes with new hardware for the bracket and a template. Should be easy enough to do. I'm also investing in
airtools and a nice torsion key loading tool. I need a good way to get my shackle bolts out though, ansuggestions so that I can help y'all even quicker? =] |
BFH and a fat center punch ;)

What do you want pics of? lol the kit isn't here yet.. so I don't really see any point in posting pics yet. If I missed somthing or you wonna see some thing let me know.
Oh, and a picture of your current ball joint angles just in case you finish soon enough. :icon_photo: |

Oh, and a picture of your current ball joint angles just in case you finish soon enough. :icon_photo: & Ball joint angles? remember I have the t-bars cranked but then alotta guys on here do so atleast it'll show the differance for them. lol Btw, whats everyone's thoughts on not using the new T-keys in the kit. I've read alotta guys say they aren't worth the money on there own so Idk think they'll be that important in the actual lift its self.. thoughts? also has anyone else wondered about the driveshaft angle at all? I've always been told any lift over 3in's you should getta "custom" driveshaft made.. but Idk for sure how much "slide" the Blazers/Bravadas have. Do you think I should worry about it? jw |
