I figure two choices.......fabtech lift and a 8.5 in the rear with big cleat mudders on the rear OR Solid Front Axle swap... Still a DD, just one with ATTITUDE.!

jpfencl 09-15-2010 05:08 PM

hey man where in alabama are you from im in decatur?

Silver00LT 09-15-2010 10:41 PM

To be honest I've looked into a 4x4 parts...but a 2wd tackling some trails that 4x4s go here is kind of IDK stating a point. :)

I'm in Ranburne, AL. I'm quite a few hours away from you. :) You are north alabama right. Right against the TN border correct.

Update

Well I received my new headlights and turn signals in the mail. Got them installed along with getting two new tires installed on my truck and had ALL TIRES BLACK WALL OUT.

BLACK WALL FTW!!! :icon_bike:

Benedict1337 09-22-2010 10:45 AM

black walls are ftw

Silver00LT 09-22-2010 10:47 AM

I still wish I had my drill attachment to get rid of that pinstripe! It's like rubber about 4" in diameter and it took off stickers and anything without touching the paint.

Left to get done without paying money is:
Removing badges except the sides
Pinstripe

Exterior plans:
Front brush guard w/ lights
maybe cowl hood

Benedict1337 09-22-2010 10:51 AM

took me forever to remove my pinstripe. fingernails and patients can take care of the pinstripe

Update 9/24

Did the following:
Painted all four calipers red
Replaced serp. belt
Replaced wheel stud that firestone crossthreaded
Flushed brake system with Prestone Dot 3 fluid...nothing special because have no brake upgrades

Benedict1337 09-25-2010 08:43 AM

I wish I had air tools...

84BlazerS10 09-25-2010 09:16 AM

Looking good, any future plans?

Silver00LT 09-25-2010 09:41 AM

Yeah I got a few plans popping up in my head, but without sufficient funds I try to ignore them so my butt does not get broke.

Since I'm having tran problems...I want to get a 4L60E with overdrive if its possible to put one in these trucks. I miss overdrive lol.

I've had the tank for a LONG time. My compressor struggles sometimes, but overhaul it works solid. Gotta love still being able to get parts for it even though its 6 years old. I had the regulator go out on me a few months ago. $15 bucks to my door IIRC.

You sound about like me lol tons of stuff I want to do with my Blazer but I would need a pretty penny to afford everything.

Silver00LT 09-25-2010 11:16 PM

Transmission is getting worse at not catching 3rd on the downshift. I'm thinking about draining 1/3 of the fluid and replacing with Lucas, but kind of nervous because whats left of my clutches is located in the fluid and I don't want to flush THAT part out as its what is allowing me to still drive. I can't afford a new transmission right now which is why I'm looking at the Lucas method til I can afford it.

matt92 09-26-2010 12:29 AM

woo. I think me and you are the only people with 2wd blazers on here. And i like your single out flowmaster. Thats what i have :)

Silver00LT 09-26-2010 06:06 AM

The day I went mudding I came out of the trail and people just stared at my truck it was so covered. Little did they know that I was 2wd....you know as long as you take the trails smartly and have the proper tools...2wd or not you'll be fine as long as you know your limits. :)

Glad to see another 2wd being built to hit the trails. :)

matt92 09-26-2010 09:06 AM

exactly.... accept i tried to do this, and I got stuck. ended up sitting on my frame.

Silver00LT 01-07-2011 05:16 PM

Replaced battery today, and looking to putting the truck in the shop to get a rebuilt transmission around mid-Feb. Whenever taxes come in. Getting 4200 back.

jpfencl 01-07-2011 06:20 PM

hey man what part of alabama are you from???

Silver00LT 01-08-2011 02:48 PM

I live in a tiny town, Ranburne. But I work at ANAD for GDLS. That's Anniston Army Depot for General Dynamic Land Systems. I am a RESET Mechanic there.

jpfencl 01-09-2011 08:35 AM

i live in decatur which is a couple hours from ya

Silver00LT 01-09-2011 07:12 PM

Nice you enjoying the snow? It's been 18 years since this part of Alabama has seen this amount and magnitude of snow.

jpfencl 01-10-2011 12:30 AM

yeah ill be playin in it for sure tomorrow morning, see what our southern trucks can do in the snow

Silver00LT 01-10-2011 12:37 AM

I've already hit a patch of black ice and got sideways going down road. Luckily 10mph I was able to ride it out. I always drive in 2 and not above 20mph when there is snow or anything. It is sleeting again now, and so far work has not been called off.

Silver00LT 08-02-2011 11:08 AM

Well finally got her back on the road. She'll need a new engine so thinking tax time dropping a Jasper in her.

MTopper 08-03-2011 10:47 PM

i love 2wd. its fun for offroading in areas that aren't super deep and muddy.

why do you need a motor?

Silver00LT 08-04-2011 03:03 AM

When radiator cracked...was stuck out in the middle of no where and had to run it hot for a half mile. Not holding oil pressure....has 150k on it. :) The oil pressure holds at 19psi instead of 40psi. But at least the rockers are not knocking everytime the engine cranks now. Whew

Sucks being the only ride I have now.

Silver00LT 02-02-2012 08:41 AM

Updated first post.

Having ABS light come on, leaking rear tails, leaf springs making me want to replace them for a nice LEVEL look. had to replace cat. Back in Sept had to replace the engine as well.

chris015 02-02-2012 08:50 AM

Did you ever buy a new jasper? Hows it treating ya?

Silver00LT 02-25-2012 09:01 AM

Yes, I did. I am loving it!

Silver00LT 02-28-2012 05:49 PM

Yesterday replaced wheel hub assembly and took it back to get it swapped under warranty.

Whole process(excluding taking it back) took 20 mins...getting TOO good at these. Bad thing is two times same bearing is too many times under 12 months and 12k.
