I know that down here, folks are always looking to replace the valance as it helps direct air under and into the radiator and the engine compartment, so you might want to watch your temp gauge for a while to make sure you don't overheat.

Other than that, don't really have any thoughts on it. I've got mine on my 98 Blazer and the custom bumper I've purchased will also have some form of built in valance that is all actual bumper for both aesthetics and functionality.

 

Been running my truck without a valance for almost 2 years, electric fan also, never an over heating problem. 95+ summers

 

I have been using 2" (hubcentric) spacers for a while now with no issues, other than i have to take them off every year for state inspection. Also, the bedliner looks great,

 

Thanks for the heads up. Wouldn't have really thought the valence would make much difference as far as cooling the engine. I'll definately keep an eye on it as the weather warms up.

 

Well I finally got around to finishing the bedliner and the front bumper.

Still need to spray the frame rails, but this is as she sits. I decided to leave the grille with the chrome look for now.

And some bad news, my driver door jam just gave out. Gonna see what it'll cost to fix at school through my buddy in the auto body program. If not It shouldn't be too difficult of a fix. But my door won't shut now and the battery drains because of the dome light and since its a 97, theres no dome override that i know of. So I'll just disconnect the battery for now. Here's the mess.

I like the bed liner on the rockers and bumpers, what product did you use? i want to do the same to mine . Looking good dude!

 

I used the Rustoleum roll-on bedliner. At Walmart its $43 for a gallon plus $11 for the kit that includes a roller, brush for tight places, paint pan for the roller, and a scrub pad for prepping the area. I had over half a gallon left over from when I did my ranger and I still have some left over. and I just painted the frame rails with the spray-on undercoat we had laying around. Took less than a minute and makes a hell of a difference (in person). I took a pic, but doesn't do it justice.


In the pic you can see my new door-holder. I had to ratchet the door across the roof and its surprisingly strong. But I'm only driving it to school so my buddy can weld a new sheet over the hole and fix the door jam. Then it should be ready to tear up the road again. Just in time to tow the boat for bowfishing.
