Default tmurph01's build thread

So a little background. I was originally planning on getting a Silverado this Fall. I really wanted to get a truck so that I could have a bed to haul things. I had my mind set on doing this until we got back-to-back blizzards last week. During these, I obtained a whole new respect and love for my Jimmy. Regardless of the conditions I was able to get where I needed to,.. it never let me down.

This got me thinking about everything the Jimmy has to offer me. A reliable and powerful powerplant, a great ride, plenty of room to haul people and stuff, and aftermarket parts are reasonably priced. Although,.. the best part is that after I pay off the remaining $2,000, both the Jimmy and my Camaro are paid off! So.. why would I want to go into debt again just to get a truck.

The vehicle is a 2001 GMC Jimmy SLE 4-door 4x4

It has 110,000 miles on it. Last month I put new plugs and wires on it.

My plan now is as follows:

Suspension:
-2" Body Lift
-2" Shackles
-1.5" T-bar crank
-31x10.5x15 tires

Body
-Tint front windows
-Safari Bar w/ PIAA or KC lights
-Fender flares
-Replace front tow hooks w/ clevices
-Rear mounted hitch
-Find a new "C" for the front grill

Engine
-Spectre CAI
-Either Flowmaster 40 or 44 muffler
-PCM Tune

That is all I have planned for right now, but I am sure that after all of these are done, I will find something new to try.

Here are pics of what I am starting off with:

If anyone has any input or piks of similar routes taken, I would love to hear/ see them.

Since we still have about 2' of snow on the ground and it will be a few months before I can do the suspension, I went ahead and ordered something I can add now.

Just ordered a Spectre CAI. Should be here Thursday. I will make sure to post after it is intalled.

Good plans! I have a Spectre knock off intake from eBay. If you want a video to up your anxiousness, like I did, there a video on Youtube of a guy installing one from start to finish on his Blazer. Watching that last night made me wish it was Saturday already so I could slap the bad boy on. Also reminded me of how big of a pain in the neck IAT sensors are.
