Signature Rules & Requirements

We're going to put in place a new set of requirements and regulations for signatures on BF.com. This will help ensure those browsing on lower resolution computers or even cell phones can browse easily without having to deal with massive signatures.
With that being said, the enforcement of signatures will play a big part over the next little bit. If your signature do not meet the requirements as outlines below you can expect to see a PM from myself or another staff member asking you to edit the sig to meet these requirements.

NOTE: We recommend (and prefer) if all posters place their vehicle info (Year, Model, Trim level, 4x4/2WD, Engine info etc.) in their signature. This helps us to identify and troubleshoot any tech problems or questions you might have. It also saves you the trouble of having to post that info in every question or problem thread you have.

Signature Requirements:

1. Maximum signature image size will be no larger than 600x200pixels.

2. If you have a signature image, the maximum amount of text IN ADDITION to your signature image will be no more than 4 lines of standard forum sized text (size 2). NOTE: The exception to this rule will be staff members. The signature rules will exclude any administrative links within their signatures (although we will keep it within reason to these guidelines).

3. If you do not have a signature image and only have text, the maximum amount of text lines allowed (at standard forum sized 2) will be no more than 10.

4. If the non-standard sized text is used in a sig (with or without an image) then the discretion will be left to the moderators and staff.

5. Signature file size shall be no larger than 500KB for both still and animated signatures.

6. Signatures shall not contain any profanity or objectionable content, including: nudity, racial slurs, etc. that would be in violation of Blazer Forum Rules.

7. Absolutely no unauthorized advertising for personal gain will be permitted. Personal gain is defined as any member benefiting monetarily from a link, statement, or image included in their signature.

The size rules are somewhat vague. It is difficult to come up with a clear cut set of rules that can easily be followed due to the large amount of variations that could exist (different text size, smilies etc.). The ultimate decision and discretion will come down to the staff as to what is too large and what isn't. The main thing is the width to help those with resolutions of 800x640. It saves them from having to scroll side to side.
Over the next little while I'll PM as I see sigs that don't meet these requirements. I ask that anyone who creates sigs on the forum follow these guidelines and keep their work within these size restraints. Thanks in advance.

Hmmm... I'll have to change Rebels01blazer's... It's a little wide.

okvortec 11-18-2009 11:00 AM

Alex, is it safe to assume all the sigs you made are within the size restrictions? I know nothing about this kind of thing.

Sisk 11-18-2009 11:05 AM

Yeah I was thinking a couple of the ones you made would be a bit big Pat. Just re-size them and send the person a new copy.

And Martin - You are correct. All of my sigs should have been within these sizes. The only exception might have been some of my very early ones (Curtis' comes to mind as being too tall). The sig you have right now is only 600x150, so it's within the limit. I'm now doing a standard size of 550x100, so all of my new ones will definitely be within these limits.

okvortec 11-18-2009 11:07 AM

Gotcha, thanks!

mdehoogh 11-18-2009 02:22 PM

ruh-roh

I'll have to trim mine down LOL

ABN31B 11-18-2009 03:44 PM

What did I do?! Mine is only 3 lines and all size 2 font :icon_confused:

Sisk 11-18-2009 03:57 PM

lol...you didn't do anything. It was ME that broke my own rules. I'm pretty sure that sig I did for you way back when was too tall to meet these requirements.

ABN31B 11-18-2009 04:24 PM

:icon_wink: good to go then :icon_teeth:

It's just Rebel's I'll have to change... all of my other sigs are 600x150... mind you the older ones may be 200 tall.

glad to see i'm not the only one.

so Alex, the size that your sig is ok, but what were you talking about regarding the amount of text used in them?

ABN31B 11-18-2009 09:43 PM

you're good. you have standard [size = 2] text.
you have 10 lines of text [capped at 10]
no pics so you are not over. your sig gets a gold star

ahhhh, now i can see it! damn yellow is hard to see on the white back ground. :icon_angel:

Sisk 11-19-2009 06:54 AM

lol...wow, blinded by the yellow text. Yeah, your sig is good Chris. Just don't add a pic. Once you add a pic you'd have to cut down on the number of lines of text you have.

old skool luvr 11-19-2009 06:13 PM

that's what i figured. i better get my butt in gear soon for a sig, before you start charging for them, lol. gotta get all the pic's into my album before i send you a request though.

thanks again for the info, boys.

Sisk 11-19-2009 06:17 PM

Yeah, get on those pics. Come to think of it Chris I don't think I've ever seen pics of ANY of your rides....

blazin8556 02-04-2010 04:32 PM

i have been wanting a little banner like you all have but don't know how to do it. i need to take a pic so i can figure that out...have 3 cars and want them all staged in it...kinda like and off set recessed line. or diagonal or something like that..

BTW is mine ok for now?

Your's is fine. The best way to learn how to make them is to just practice. Some of the better sigs on here are made by a few different members who get tons of practice at it. You can download a free trial of photoshop to get started

Make sure your editor is set to "Enhanced". Go to your settings and way down at the bottom change the editing settings to enhanced.
