Default Paint Restoration - Very light rust...

Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you in the snowy areas of the world see the light rust coating that endsup getting almost everywhere on your paint? Especially by the rear bumpers. Its not solid rust more like a rust sheen almost. Not sure how to explain it really.

Well the point is im looking for a good compound to try and get rid of this before it becomes a more serious problem. It wont come off with regular washings even with a little elbow grease.

Any ideas? Thanks again.

Not quite sure what you are refering to. Orange peel? Under the paint type rust? Surface rust? only way to really get rid of that would be paint it.

i dont know what your refering to either......... but the best thing you can do is spend some money and buy a good quality buffing wheel and buff the paint. dont just use compound applied by hand.... nothing can do the job of a buffer.

my blazer has 110k on it and its been in northeast ohio its whole life..... buffed it for what was surely the first time ever and the paint looks dam near brand new.

usually if u wetsand with a high grit sandpaper and then buff the truck, the orange peel should come out

well my understanding is that orange peel is the remnance of paint after they finish painting......so instead of the glossy show look....u can see some disfiguration in the paint itself and it usuallly resembles the skin of an orange, and as for how to fix it i didnt know u could wet sand your paint.....just make sure u really get in depth before u start standing your car with any grit lol

so is this like everywhere on the truck or is it just a small spot near the bumpers?
