Ive seen alot of professional detailers use highly diluted bleach to clean, as long as your applying and washing it off quickly I see no problem with it. If you let it sit however, problems will arise.

 

Yeah it was on and off asap. I wash (as I'm sure most of you do) one panel at a time. I'm picky about washing my truck so.

 

I always was my truck with dawn dish soap. People will swear up and down its extremely bad, but again, I've seen many, many people do it with no adverse effets. I honestly believe it does a better job than any car soap I've tried.

 

They say dishsoap strips off the wax because of the chemicals in it. I haven't really researched it so I can't say for sure.

I've heard the same. I use a Wash and Wax soap on my truck.

 

Bleach is highly corrosive to metal. Even if diluted and "washed off quickly" residue remains on the surface. It will get itself into cracks and crevices you can't reach and water alone won't remove. It will slowly strip the clear coat and paint from your truck and eat away at the rubber too (causing door seals etc to harden and crack prematurely).

You won't notice it at first (especially with very weak dilutions), but over time it will cause more harm than good.

i work at a carwash soooo i get free washes but i do need to wax my truck

 

my 98 jimmy is white. it looks mint when its nice and clean. usually i wash and wax it and use a bug and tar remover on all the little ****s that dont come off when u wash it. i still havent figured out how to get the aluminum rims looking as good as i want them to.
