look id love to keep the tranny i love my 4x4 im just a bit confused lol i kno the 2.8 700r4 wont bolt up to a 350! ok so that means new tranny? and was said that the 4x4 may not be able to handle the torque of a 350? (if the tranny i currently have can bolt up?)

no, no, no. it was said that the front diff isn't the stongest, and having the power of a 350 in your truck will definately blow that (and your rear one) given enough beatings.

seriously, why not just swap in a 4.3, since you can have a wiring harness that'll just go right in without any custom work to it? it would make your life (and the swap) so much easier.

Heck I used to snap cv joints in the front of my 85 with a 2.8 only running on 5cyl. The rear should be fine. I did a v8 swap in a 95 and that's all I did was beat that truck

The front end and rear end will hold up as long as you aint out trying to tear it up. Find a 700r4 out of a s-series with a 4.3 and 4x4. It will have the correct bolt pattern for the small block and all of your stuff will bolt to it.

Just get a 700r4 out of a 4x4 s-10 with a 4.3 or a fullsize truck, use your t-case, bolt the 350 to it, and run it.

FYI that plate is to convert a chevy 90 degree to a buick, olds, pontiac (BOP) pattern not to a 60 degree.

if your still worried about there being too much power(which i believe there is no such thing) you could always do a 3.4L swap. you can use stock everything. and you do get a good increase in power about 200hp with heads from another 3.4L. i dont know which set off the top of my head. the only major thing you would do is swap out the injectors in the TBI with ones from a 4.3L so it wont run lean.

You'll need a different oil pan as well to clear the front diff and give enough capacity.
