had a buddys dodge that had 9, 8 for the cylinders and 1 for the coil

i have a 2002 chevy blazer and i replaced the cap and rotor and when i tightend down the cap the pieces on the top of the distributor where the screws go into broke(plastic) now wat do i do. do i need to buy a whole new distributor

yeah 02blazerz, it only has to be tight-not reefed down with 100 ft-lbs of torque.

but it is a RPITA that these distributor's aren't made out of aluminum anymore, 'cause if you don't dreak the ears off when you tighten them down, the holes "strip" when you remove the screws. but a little teflon tape around the threads works great, and is easier to deal with, than having a broken ear to deal with.

Same thing happened to me.. Geesh.. Lesson learned. tightened distributor cap then it got broken.

I dont mind NAPA stuff, I can get the Delco brand stuff at my napa store for alot less than the dealer wants.

Yeah dont tighten the screws that much. I ususally have my daughter doing those jobs for me and shes 10, so as tight as she can make them without grunting is tight enough. BTW its not child labor, she requests to help with the auto work around here. Im gonna make a hot rodder out of her. She wants an older early 90s Z24 3.1 for her 16th birthday that she can paint up nice, shes an amazing artist at 10. So thats what I have to start looking for to begin a build with her in the next couple years.
