Why not? In addition to the shift kit I would also be upgrading the servo or something like that. One of my friends has allready done this to his tranny and it works great so I'm planing on doing the same to mine.

My stance on that is that the 4L60E works, $3000 every 150,000 miles makes the transmission a rather inexpensive part. I wouldn't want to possibly harm it's integrity in any way.

However, if it works for your friend then it's probably legit... but I just don't understand why everyone wants firm shifts when every transmission I have had shift firm has died. Also, GM's 4L60E course claims that firm shifts happen when the shift is slow which is very bad.

Regards,

Thomas

BTW I have the 700r4 not the 4l60e. But I was also looking at rebuilt engine with lots of power, but same old tranny. Works fine now yes, but for how long?

Actually, it only makes a difference if you tuned your PCM for it. Everything else you said I totally agree with!

And Thomas (^5 to a fellow Marylander, BTW) -- they are right that it's a Federal offense. I used to work for EPA, so it's true. It's just that they won't lock you up for it. However, they will stick you with a huge fine if they find out you tampered with the emissions. IMO, the few horses you may squeeze out of it by screwing with the cat just isn't worth it.

Yes, Marylanders are awesome!

But the problem if how can they possibly prove that it was you? Ever hear of catalytic converter theft? I would love to see them try and fine someone for that. Now, I agree with fining shops that will do it for $$ and advertize it as a fix, that is total fraud and a dirty thing to do. However, it is against the constitution to make a law stating that you must have one, where it will be and what make and model the catalytic converter will be.

On the note of high octane, I notice that cruise control seems to be able to get a little more econ, I can't because I want to floor it all the time!

Finally, that tornado-air-thing... those haven't been banned for false advertizing yet? They used to sell those at Antietam Auto before it was Napa Auto and I remember thinking: "how can anything you stick in your intake be good for it?"

Regards,

Thomas

P.S. I snapped a pic of my ScangaugeII today when I parked displaying an average fuel economy of 22.4MPG *will upload when I get home*, before that when I was on 15 north it was getting 23.1-23.4 running BP Midgrade. Third trip to college this week and still over a half tank!

Does anyone else notice their Blazer does better with midgrade than premium or am I just a freak of nature?

Yes, utterly pointless.
