Default Fluid Changes

I got my 02 Blazer 4wd with 65K miles on it and just turned 68K miles. I want to change the transmission fluid, but do I change out any fluid in the transfer case since its a 4 wheel drive? Last car got traded in because tranny went out so I want to make sure my tranny on this one doesn't go out or anything expensive. Thanks.

im not big on the 4wd parts but i know gear oil smells something nasty when its burnt so you can give it a sniff

im not really sure but i think according to suggested service i think it is 50-60k if heavy 4wd useage but im not sure ill check the list tomorrow

this was on edmunds.com for your truck it has diff oil on the list so i guess yes

Get the tranny flushed with a machine. The best way to go. But you may want to change the filter too.

The T case can be drained and changed by yourself. What model T case do you have? NVG 233-NP1 or the NVG 236-NP8?

Autotrak II t case fluid is a dealer item only around me. #88861800

I'm just going to have the Chevy dealer do the fluid changes so I don't have to mess with it. I haven't checked into which transfer case I have. Is there model numbers on the housing itself? Where can I find the numbers? Thanks.

There will be a stamp on the T case. Should be aluminum. It might say " New Venture Gear, Syracuse, NY" And the model number NVG 2??. My plant makes gears for NVG.

Have the GM dealer do a power flush. Blazer transmissions are not the strongest, and a very good tranny guy has recommended to me that a tranny power flush every 30K miles is about the best way to prevent problems.
