Gas Mileage in your Blazer?
Hi all,
Just wondering what everyone gets for gas mileage in their Blazers. I have a 98 LT with a 3:42 rear end. Maybe just need a tune up, but getting about 14 in the city and 17-18 on the highway. Anyone getting 20+ on the highway, and at highway speeds, like 70 mph.

I don'tknow if any blazer with a stock drivetrain will achieve 20+ at 70+ MPH, but mine typically gets 20 MPG average with mostly 55-60 mph driving. Here recently it has droped to 19.1 mpg (it's very cold here the last few weeks). It has a 3.73:1 gear ratio, but has the tallest of the available tires (235/75/15). I also always run the same fuel and use ONLY G.M. tune-up parts. By-the way, the ORIGINAL plugs, wires, cap and rotor were removed and replaced with 101,000 miles on them and it got about 17 mpg when I changed them.
Weget about 14.? now according to the inconsistantly consistant lieing trip/overhead computer.
It was around 16.3 mpg ave. over the summer. (the average of about 12 tanks I hand calculated.)
I have 3.42:1 w/ 235/75R15 @ 35 psi.

This topic comes and goes, but I digress...
My Bravada is probably the worst case of all... AWD, 3.73 gears, & 235/70R15 tires. I have been getting around 15-16mpg with the measily driving I do for work now (less than 6 miles to work). I dipped down to 13mpg for a tank full but that was primarily due to 3 fire calls during that week and 2-5*F weather. My best was ~20mpg when I moved and that was mostly interstate with the truck loaded right down. But we were only driving around 65mph as my father-in-law was driving the U-Haul truck and we sorta caravaned it across NY state.

Wow I am getting like 11-12 mpg. All of it stop and go driving no highway. Last tank i drove 155 miles and put 13 gallons in. It is cold here but it was the same during the summer as well. Its mostly my driving style but even when I drive slowly I dont even notice much of a different maybe 1 to 2 mpg.
When was the last time you did a tune up?. Cap,rotor, plug wires and plugs?. I pity you guys with 4 by 4's, my Tblazer gets 15 in the winter (in 2 wd) and not much better in the warmer weather. I'll run it to Florida and back in May and I'l hoping for 17-18.
My 2 wheel drive 2 door Blazers have gotten 18 mixed and 22-24 highway. And I KNOW what it gets!. All of us with shot fuel level gages drive by the odometer. Fill the tank, zero the odometer.

I guess it didn't snow on Gilligans Isle this year. My driveway accumulates snow drifts quite a bit. Everytime it snows
