The best i've gotten was 300 miles for about 14 gallons. It fluctuates a lot, depending mostly on when I use a/c. I usually get about 20 mpg or so with mostly highway driving, and 17-18 mpg or so with city driving. Thats with my '94 with 158k miles, automatic, 4x4

I would like to know how in the hell dude is getting 24 miles a gallon on average? If you could let us all know what you have done I am sure many people would be grateful

No problem. The things I do fall into 2 categories - mod to the truck and mods to me.

mods to the blazer:

1. Tires - I am running Michelin MXV4s 235/65/17, this is more of a car type tire than a truck style tread. I don't go off road and this kind of tire really helps with a low rolling resistance. I inflate my tires to the maximum printed on the sidewall (51 psi in my case).
2. Alignment - I am running 0 toe and 0 camber up front to avoid pushing or draging the tires. The front end was also lowered about an inch from the torsion bars.
3. Clean up - I removed the roof rack and trailer hitch, I'll never use either so I won't miss them. Besides it looks alot cleaner without the rack and is quieter while driving from less wind noise. I also cleaned out the truck of everything I don't really need - no excess or dead weight.
4. Maintinence - fresh filters and synthetic fluids in everything. Also full tune-up with plugs, wires, cap and rotor, cleaned throttle/afm/injectors.

mods to me

1. Slow down - I stick to the posted speed limit in the right lane. And no I am not the guy doing 30 in a 45 or 50 in a 65. I choose the roads I commute with to avoid the 65mph freeways, speeds over 55-60 are a killer for aerodynamic boxes like a blazer - avoid it.
2. Keep a steady speed. Instead of racing to the light I go the the speed limit and then maintain it. Let the truck coast whenever possible.
3. Keep an eye on the instant mpg gauge in the info display and try to maintain a target number as best as you can start with an easy number you know you can hit then raise it by 1 when you can.

There are lots of techniques and driving skills (these are just a few) that can help you improve your gas mpg, for the rest and great support like I found here at blazerforum go to www.cleanmpg.com and read the "hows and whys of hypermiling" article, here is the link http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1510

Yes, I know that Hyper word had a bit of a negative association - but this is the original core group that pioneered allot of this and they DO NOT advocate or suggest unsafe or illegal activites like drafting, running stop lights/signs, ect.... I'm not only saving gas and money, but my truck will probably last longer and I also feel allot safer and less stressed when driving.

If you have any more questions be sure to let me know.
