Running hot after 10 min

Default Running hot after 10 min

I can not find anything wrong i check the antifreeze and its fine after about 10 mins of running it will get hot to about 230 and drove it from town to home on day and was leakin antifreeze... cant find the leak i am wondering what can it be my thermostat or water pump it just seems like it gets hot for no reason any suggestions or if you have run into this b4? Thanks Duces

Most likely your t-stat has failed shut or partially open and is restricting the flow of coolant. The leak you speak of probably isn't a leak at all, just coolant pushing out of the overflow bottle. I would replace the tstat first as it's the cheapest route. If you cannot see coolant leaking from the waterpump or do not hear any abnormal noises from the waterpump, I wouldn't go that route until you have ruled out the tstat.

I would say that the truck should be sidelined until you figure this out. Overheating an engine is VERY bad!

I recently had that same problem the coolant was leaking from a hose joint though. I flushed the radiator after I replaced some hoses that looked poor and the thermostat. Everythings a ok now.

Great!!! it was the thermostat!!! so glad it was a 17 dollar fix!!! thanks alot!! she is runnin pretty now and i am as happy as a pig in mud!!! Duces

Yeah, that's cool that it was only the t stat.

In March, I paid for a flush and had Dexcool put back in. The heater has since perform better.
