turbo q/a
i have a 1997 gmc jimmy with a vortec V6 and was wondering if i could bolt a cyclone or typhoon turbo to this motor, it is 4.3 liter vortec v6. any comments or tech info will help.

Welcome.
I did some research into that once. The turbo cost like 2-3K and it only puts out as much horsepower/torque as a stock 5.7L V8 engine. Figured for the 2-3K I could easily do a V8 swap and still have money left over.

The problem with bolting a turbo to any engine is that a stock engine that didn't come with a turbo probably wont last long with a turbo. Most, if not all cars that have a turbo have forged pistons, lower compression ratio, forged block, etc., etc. Whereas a N/A (naturally aspirated) engine will probably have cast pistons, higher compression, etc. When you put the boost to the stock N/A engine, it raises the compression so high that either the cast pistons won't hold or detonation will occur...neither being too nice to the engine. I heard of people puttin a turbo on a N/A but I wouldn't advise it without strengthening the internals.
