The Goodwrench engine was cheaper than doing it myself. Originally I just couldn't bear to not fix the 65K mile original engine. Thought it would be an easy one with minimal parts. Turned into a full-tilt rebuild after the machine shop inspection (over $2000 in parts and machine work). After the failure, I also was wanting a warranty - and to just start driving it instead of working on it. At the time I made the decision for the Goodwrench, I really didn't know what caused the problems with my rebuild and I was looking at complete disassembly, hot tanking and new cam bearings, resizing rods that were rattling, re-checking line bore, and re-hone/new rings in order to clean it up - plus the new crank and bearings. Bearing failures make a bigger mess of fine metallic particles run through the engine than most people think.
