Default 05 Jimmy crank no start

Went for holidays and left the Jimmy for 4 days. Came home last night and started her up, and it ran fine. Idled at 900, let her run for a few minutes and turned it off. Wake up this morning to a crank no start. Foot to the floor, no go, flooded engine and smells of vapour. Sounds like some misfires too. Spark plugs haven’t been done in two years. Distributor cap is original. Where should I start looking for problems?

I am assuming that you have a strong crank but no start condition, is that correct?
  1. Any codes?
  2. What is the resting voltage at the battery terminals?
  3. What is it during crank?
  4. Pull a couple of plug wires and see if you have 1" of strong blue spark with a normal cadence during a crank
  5. Perform the fuel pressure test in the sticky
Report back and we will get you running again.

battery is sitting around 12v when cranking. I don’t have a voltmeter, but that’s what the dash is telling me. I pulled the fuel pump relay and had it fire for half a second, then it died out. It smells of gas so I don’t think it’s a fuel issue. I flooded the engine pretty bad yesterday, so I let it dry out overnight

I put the fuel relay back in and had it fire right up. Not sure what the problem could be. It’s been up and down temperature outside these days so made condensation got in?

So are you up and running then? Sometimes it's just a bad connection and pulling a fuse, relay or wire connection and putting it back solves the problem.

What could be the root cause of that happening? I want to replace the fuel pump relay now along with the spark plugs. I haven’t exactly kept up on yearly maintenance

If you follow my steps we can figure it out. This works best when it wont start.
