In newer cars and trucks I would run what the owners manual calls for. The tolerances in the motos are still pretty tight and you wouldn't want to void any warranty that you might have. Heavier weight oil might lessen your gas mileage a little bit. Any oil is better than no oil. Also, clean oil is better than dirty oil.

And I am from Arkansas too, unlike another person from Arkansas stated that we run anything that's laying around, never did that, never would do that, unless there was no choice & it was an emergency. And I have never known anyone that would do that.
If you take care of the inside of an engine it will last for many miles, if not it want last very long.
