Default 1983 two wheel drive, v6 automatic transmission?

What automatic transmission is in my 1983 s10 blazer 2 wheel drive v6? Also what other transmission will fit with no alteration?

I was told that is was smaller than a 350 trans.

Thanks,
Paul

700r4 is behind it, 700r4 out of 1982-1988 s-series 2wd fit with no mods.

Thanks, that is not the 700 trans that is in Suburbans is it? Is it a physically smaller trans than a 350?
Are they hard to find?

Reason is mine is slipping and I might need another one.

Thanks again,
Paul

I checked the throttle valve cable and it was lose. Is it supposed to go back on its own at low throttle or stay lose? Mine is lose and when I pull it all the way it just stays there.

Same tranny as the V8s internal, tranny housing different. Your talking a 90 degree bellhousing (4.3, v8) compared to a 60 degree (2.8). I've heard you can use the auto out of a 3.1/3.4 camaro you have to change the tail shaft tho. I don't know for a fact if that true.

your cable is fine
