Default 1991 4.3 TBI v6 chain or gear

Okay so I have been searching and searching and I havent found anything saying wether or not you can use a Chevy 350 gear drive on a 4.3 v6? Been trying to find out restoring family truck and doing slight modifications. Since I have the current problem of a timing chain that skipped a tooth causing predetonaion and a lifter knock. I figured its a good time to get an answer about this seeing as all the specs between the two motors is identical I dont see why it wouldnt but please anyone let me know for sure.

Some parts could work.

I've a 94 in rebuild and the issue is that for some years the V6 adopted changes that followed only later on the 350 V8's.

You fix your stuff obviously yourself so you should have seen if:

- It has the retainer plate for the camshaft (may need an appropriate cam gear to clear the retainer)
- It has a balance shaft or not. (either remove balance shaft or proper gear to clear the balance-shaft gear) Not sure if a gear drive is available for the balance shaft version of the V6.

In the section about the application and carefully reading it should point you in the right direction.

I'm still going with a chain drive on my build. CompCams street racer application. Nicely clears the retainer and is spaced for the balance-shaft, properly aligning the chain to the crankshaft.
