My brother recently gave me a 1992 Chevy Blazer 4.3 V6 Vortec. The car was parked a few years ago because there was a "tapping" in the motor. Well I went and charged the battery and it started right up but the "tapping" was more like banging. It sound like metal hitting metal. The motor runs good and strong. When the car is given gas the banging sound gets faster and louder. It sounds like the noise is coming from the front of the engine. I honestly have never heard anything like it before. Does anyone have any ideas on what is going on? I appreciate any and all suggestions. I am hoping with a little maintenance and some TLC it will be back on the road soon.
