1995 Blazer Engine Temperature
What is the recommended running temperature for a 1995 Blazer? I have a 195 thermostat that I just bought/installed, but the gauge shows the temperature getting up to 210 before the gauge starts to fall. Is this normal for a 195 thermostat? I must have had a 185 thermostat before, because I know the temperature was never at this new "normal" level previously. What "warmed up" temperature does your blazer run?
Also, at what temperature is it recommended to shut down a blazer engine when it looks to start overheating? I've always took it for granted to never let it go past 230F before shutting it down. What about you?

205-210*F is typical for a 195*F thermostat. The gauge sender is not located at the thermostat so the temperatures may be slightly higher than thermostat regulating temperature.
As far as when you should stop if the temps get too high. 230 is a good place to stop. I usually will shut down the A/C, open the windows, and crank the heat around 220 or so. If it continues to rise, it's time to find a safe place to pull off and see what is going on.
