Thumbs up 1995 Engine Transplant

I need some help with my Blazer if anyone can give me some info. I have a 1995 Blazer with the 4.3L V6 OHV 12V. I need a new engine and My truck has been sitting for a while trying to find one. The PROBLEM is that I have been told that 1995 is a unique year for the blazers: they say that the motor mounts briefly changed and then changed again in 1996 when they came out with the SCPI fuel system rather than CPI Basically what ive been told is I can only put another 1995 motor in. Not younger and not older. Does anyone know if this is true? if it is, is there a way around it? I want my truck running again! Thanks!

Welcome aboard !

I am new around here too. I am just starting out and have done a lot of reading threads and used the search feature to help solve some of my Blazer's issues. Everyone has been very helpful too.

I have the "96 4 door 4WD. Apparently the 95 and 96 were very different than the other years. I found a lot of cool tricks along with a bunch of schematics to tinker with our very rare trucks. I wish I had a Haynes Manual most of the time. I don't trust mechanics when they start talking about "special parts and upgrades" because they become real salesmen. As soon as they use words like safety and reliability; they are on to the big push.

They guys here seem to have no interest in selling anything and have been real helpful with me. Most of the real active members seem to have "been there - done that" with a lot of Blazers. I would be surprised if you didn't get a bunch of replies very soon.

I have a 1995 blazer and it has a engine from a 1998 in it. It was already in the blazer when I bought it so I couldn't tell you what all had to be changed or modified but it runs so anything is possible.

Thanks guys. Ill hold out and hope someone comes along with the exact answer. I appreciate your encouragement and Viking, your post gives me hope!

Maybe it was just the block from a 98?

I wish you luck!

I have been trying to solve my "dome light override" issue for the same reason. the '95/'96 are wired the same but not like the other years. I really want to control it and the courtesy lights too [they are on the same circuit] but I don't think anyone on BF has done it yet.

Hang in there .....

I noticed the ordering code for the 1995 and 1996 engines was the same. Could that mean they are the same engine and are in fact thus interchangeable?
