Default 1996 blazer shifting problem

Hello all

I just got this 96 blazer, an i notice that it shifts in 1st and 2nd fine, then it makes its way to go into 3rd gear and does nothing. When i drive it in overdrive it shifts through all the gears fine. Its not throwing a code at all. If someone could shed some light into this, it would help me out bigtime. Thanks

So when you leave it in overdrive, it will shift through all the gears with out issue?

And are you also making a distinction between leaving it in over-drive and manually moving through the gears as you accelerate?

This might or might not apply to you but when the 3-4 clutch pack goes, the shifting into 3rd results in the engine revving as if you put it into neutral. With a bad clutch pack there is no gear engagement and you get no power transmission. Does this sound like what is happening to you?

Why would it work in overdrive but not drive. That sounds like the problem. I know its not throwing any transmission codes or a check engine light. The only thing thst is on is my abs light, which the brake system is fine, could it be the vss senser? Or could it be just dirty fluid an needs a new filter. I am going to have a someone look at it on my day off saterday.

The over drive work fine which is not the case in manual drive as both has different arms for moving the clutches and this can affected by dirty bad transmission oil for that Chang the filter and the oil .

There is a separate clutch pack for overdrive and for 3rd-4th gear.

Turns out, the transmission is fine. Just had it in the wrong gear.
