Hello I am buying a 1998 4dr 4x4 blazer and it is having a problem with the transmission in it. The people that I am getting it off of got the car from an older lady, she had the transmission rebuilt and 2 days later pulled a guy out of a ditch, and she messed it up again so she said. So she had it rebuilt, well the people that got it from her have been driving it for a couple of months now and now all it has is first and second gear again. Could it be something be sides the transmission that is messing up on it or is the transmission it self bad. It just doesn't seem right to me that the transmission keeps going out. I drove it down the road and back today and when it gets in second gear it will take you up to 25, 30 mph. and then it just starts to rev up high. But it shifts great through first and second, it gets up and go, just once it is at its limit in second gear that is it. I know that this has been asked several times before. But I just want to know what everyone thinks about it. Cause I have had transmission go on me but never like this blazer, it just seem odd to me that it keeps going bad. Thanks for any and all info and help..
My name is Jay, by the way, nice to meet everyone.

Hello my name is Jay, I just got a 1998 chevy s10 blazer 4x4 4 dr. It has a bad transmission in it. All it has is 1st & 2nd, when I checked the transmission fluid in it, it was like black. Could this be from the transmission cooler not working or what..

Hi, yes I did read the link but it didn't say anything about the cooler, I do know that these can go bad, and i'm sorry for posting again, its just that all of the stuff that that link had in it is more for when a transmission is starting to go and all, and this transmission has already went bad 3 times with in a few months of it being rebuilt. I am sorry again if I have made anyone mad, I am not on here trying to be annoying i'm just trying to find the problem so I don't keep putting money into something that isn't the problem in the first place. I'm sorry again and hope every one can understand and excuse me from reposting it. thanks

Hello: every one, so I went and got my blazer today, and I drove to my house and on the way here at about 3500 rpms it would jump in and out of 3rd, so when I got home I figured it had enuff time to warm up and all. So I check the transmission fluid in it and there is very little on the dip stick, and when I wipe it off it is pinkish redish and it doesn't smell burnt. Could it being low on transmission fluid have anything to do with it not wanting to go into 3rd and overdrive. Or not really.

So I have moved all of your posts out of the other thread you were asking them into the thread you created on this problem. It is disrespectful to the OP of this thread to keep hijacking it. Especially when we haven't heard back whether the OP fixed the problem for which this thread was originally created. Please try to only ask questions relevant to the problem that the original author of a thread is experiencing.
Now... Low fluid levels can do a number of strange things. The fluid level must be within the hash marks when the transmission is fully warmed up. The engine must be running with the transmission in park when you check it. And the truck must be on a flat, level surface. The first thing I would do is fill it properly.
As far as the cooler goes. If your cooler were plugged, your transmission would be puking transmission fluid out of the breather on top driver side of the transmission about 12" from the back of the engine.
It doesn't matter how many times a transmission is rebuilt if it is done incorrectly, it will fail prematurely.

what the hell is with your font size, colour, and adding "bold" to your whole post?
it's very irritating to read.
my main question to you (is it Jay or Steven?) why hasn't the truck been taken back to the original trany shop that did the rebuild in the first place?

It was taken back the second time it happen and they rebuilt it. The the lady sold it and the people that bought it drove it for awhile and then it started to do this and it is out of its warrenty. I have another transmission for it with only 1200 miles on it, but I don't want to put the new transmission in if there is something else that is causing the transmission to go bad. Oh and it is Jay or Steven I am sorry about using them both, i'm so use to hearing them both that I don't even realize that i'm putting to different names. So I put my signature as Steven, sorry again for that.
