1999 Front seal issue

I found out recently that my front seal was not doing its job. I had my transmission rebuilt 12,000 miles ago (2 year 20,000 mile warranty) And found now that it (the trans.) started slipping, and thrusting RPM's while driving. I went to get it checked out from the same place that did the rebuild, and they told me it was a bad front seal. Of course it is NOT covered under the warranty they offered (I disagree) and it was going to cost over $300 to fix. AND my warranty is VOID until THEY fix it. My question is several part. Can I do it myself? (I have swapped engines in a Honda CRX, replaced a transmission in a Honda Prelude, so I know my way around foreign cars, but, have not dug too much into my Blazer)
Where do I start? (Chiltons manual?) Does anyone have an exploded view of this transmission? Is there a step-by-step somewhere? I have access to ALLDATA Online (Alldatapro.com)
Should the Transmission shop cover that? He said there was no way for them to foresee a problem with a front seal after 12,000 miles, therefore they are not going to cover it... My e:mail address is [email protected] if anyone can help I would be grateful.

Just wanted to add... When I checked the trans fluid level it was empty. After having the shop check the problem they said all the fluid went into the transfer case. Is this why after 35 miles I get something dripping on the exhaust pipe (burns and smokes really bad while driving) Im really lost....
This is a 1999 2 door LS, 4 wheel drive automatic with 4.3 Vortec V6 VIN 1GNCT18W5XK181444, 122,000 miles.

I had this happen to me. If you can manage pulling the transmission it looks pretty straight forward. I opted to have the shop do it. It sounds to me like they should cover that....just saying.
