Default 2.8 to a 4.3?

Right now I have a 87 4x4 2.8 with a manual tranny. I can get a 4.3 for next to nothing. I am wondering will the tranny bolt right up to the 4.3? and will the exhaust manifolds be a problem as well?

Not to hijack, but I am at the same issue. I have a full 4.3L blazer that I want to take the engine out of and put in my 2.8L blazer. Would it just be easier to take the cab off the 2.7L and put on the 4.8L? The only thing wrong is the body on the 4.8L is messed up, the body on the 2.8 is fine. If I do swap engines I have to take everything off one and put in the other?

A 91 and a 90, both of them automatic. The 4.3L is 4x4 and the 2.8L is 2wd
