have a 95 lt -132,000 miles. been getting a whining growl (growling whine?) on acceleration - mostly at 1st and 2nd gears (L460e). does not do it all the time, but there's a noticeable drop in accel when it does it. pump? converter?......2nd the vehicle "shakes" over 62 mph. not the steering wheel, but the whole vehicle just shakes. are these related? i am not enough tranny guy to know how to troubleshoot this. help??

2 or 4wd?
Have you checked the rear drive shaft for play? If the u-joints are bad your vehicle will rumble all over the place.
When was the tranny fluid & filter changed last? 1st & second are the higher RPM gears & need more fluid so if the fluid is bunk then that could cause an issue.
Does it do it warm or just cold? I'm guessing if you're doing 63mph the engine & trans are warm.

Check the motor, trans mounts. Check U-joints and while your at it check the input shaft on the trans for play. Also make sure no weights fell off the drive shaft. Look for spot welds where weight would have been welded to the shaft and also check for dents in the shaft. Check the rear end input shaft. Check tire balance and wheels to make sure they are true (not bent). Do a check on front end and all wheel bearings. If all else fails find a shop that can balance a drive shaft or buy a used on and see if that helps. Almost forgot. Check the harmonic balancer.

have some experience w/ u-joints - doesn't feel like that, unless they've tightened up...no play in the shaft. just changed fluid/filter in trans - no unusual debris on magnet - old fluid showed age, but not burnt or gunky. makes the whine/growl cold and warm. cannot understand why out-of-balance/round wheels would wait til high speed...but maybe..will check. no weights gone from shaft..have to check front end bearings - but, as i say, the steering wheel does NOT shake/shudder, ever. thanks for the thoughts...gives me some checkpoints. thanks again...hewybo

couple of more ideas
pump going out... not allowing fluid to all areas?
pcm casing tranny to have high line pressure?
planetary gears out of alignment or damaged?
maybe this will help with troubleshooting
