2000 Blazer cranks but no start

Might want to add this to the no spark / no start thread / sticky as a possible fix. Oh, I determined the gap by using a small dab of clear silicone on the leading edge of the sensor and installed it then turned the engine by hand then removed it.

Thanks. I guess all covers are not created equal. I would recommend to everyone who does not get spark after swapping out timing chain covers to do the gap check with the silicone ideas above. Keeping in mind that you only use the tiniest amount of clear silicone to measure the gap. Also important is to only put the silicone on the side of the sensor towards the mount bolt for the sensor so that the silicone gets spread over the top of the sensor and not put inside the engine to clog up the oil pickup screen.

Man the first thing I do when a 4.3 just quits with no spark is this. First take the module to Autozone have ir checked. It must be tested several times to get it hot enough to make sure it don't break down. If it is good, then get inside the distributor, the cam sensor is in there. It is the small plastic part that the harness plug goes into. I don't know if they can text it or not. Replace it and if you don't have any cut wires it should start sparking. Remember if you try another coil to make sure it is grounded. Hope this will help someone on this forum.

Sorry for bringing this back, but I had something to add for future readers. I had the exact same problem after the timing cover change on my 2000 Blazer and had the exact same fix except I modified the flange on the sensor so it would go it deeper. The china made cover from autozone doesn't work with the china made crank sensor from autozone. The china sensor works in the GM cover. An original GM crank sensor works in both covers with out any modification. After a while my original fix would lose the pulse at about 3000 rpm when above 90 deg F. outside. After digging further I found this compatibility problem. This time cheap parts cost me A LOT of time!

Hoping out loud!!
Camaroman you may be a Godsend, I been searching for something along this line for days! See I also followed the test the guy linked too earlier, the big problem with that test is that it seemed and obviously is incomplete.
That test needs a few more steps, I wondered when I purchased a new CPS and came out with the same no signal reading (okay what now). Like most of you I have a good background in following troubleshooting sheets but it can really get you flustered (maybe a new word) when you know there has to be more steps or at least one more!
Anyhow first thing tommorrow I know what to try, and I have a sneaky suspicion you posted my solve, fortunatly I'm only out a ign coil and the CPS so far, thanks for sharing this. And may you be Blessed the rest of your days!
