but here's the first fuel pump for ours I came across.

And reading WAY down... here's the specs
3 bar... 45 psi. Hmmmm. No thanks.

It says on another source site 'Select a flow rating pressure above your operating pressure for best results'.
So that would be 5 bar. Doesnt mean any given pump for that rating wont last.. it just reflects likelyhood of early demise, all else equal.

 

its was a weak fuel pump haha. yea it mite of not been such a big learning op. but for me it was. id rather check everything before i replace a part. at least now i know all the steps to properly diagnose this problem and fix it. thanks for the help.

 

Thanks for the lesson on the bar thing (actually I googled for the lesson). I guess that pump must be underrated by that standard, because we already know that these two trucks (at least) won't run on 45 or 43.5 psi or whatever. So somewhere the math is wrong. My $20 pump peaks at 61 to crank and regulates at 55. But if I had a fat wallet and cost was no object, I'd just take it to the dealer and not worry about such petty nonsense.

 

Let me say it again. That is a design/production test standard to which the pump is built. The point is all production must meet or surpass.

The absolute head pressure {return plugged} of one pump might be 100 lbs, the next.. 65 lbs. Either of those would probably pass 3 bar 120 lph.

Look at it like this: Your house wiring if it's built in last 60 years is power/ insulation rated to 600 volts. Do you think you should settle for a 200 volt rating?
12 ga wire can actually handle 30 amp easily, it's never to be fused for more than 20. Should you put a 30 amp breaker on it, anyway?
It would work fine.. almost all the time.
