Finaly found out my problem today, at first thought it was the tps but come to find out the culprit was the shift selonoid, thirty eight bucks and shes running and shifting like new. Good luck on your journey.

Like yours mine was doing the exact same, Like I said on a Ford Im pretty good but on these Im kinda lost. So I had my backwoods mechanic come by this morning and checked out the tps Im guessing using the ohm meter everything looked good then told me it could be the sensor under the distributor. But mine wasnt given off a code. So while he was leaving I started to drive it and in between first and second it started with the rpm going up and down like it was slipping out of gear. Then it geared down real low like doing 25 in a five speed in fifth gear. Bogging down barely able to climb a hill. Then finally my check engine light came on down the road from advance auto. they ran a check and it came back general transmission code, called the mechanic he said he knew exactly what it was, shift selonoids, as far as I understood theres only two of them one for 1st and 2nd and the other one was 3rd and 4th I just replaced both changed filter new fluid and been driving it all day and it shifts perfect. The mechanic said that this happens alot, that he couldnt count the times hes had to replace these switches and it didnt take long at all. Theres a great video on youtube, Its not much harder than taken the pan off. good luck and let me know when you get it fixed, I would love to know if this was problem to. And finally the wife is HAPPY....

By the way wildhawghunter I was wondering how its idling, as for mine it idled perfect because he also told me that alot of the other sensors that goes bad will effect the idling, like if its the camshaft sensor it dont want to run at all. But when idling does the rpm hand really move at all. If its idling nice than my thought is its selonoids. And from what im told even if its not you would probaly have to replace them in the future anyways... Let me know

thanks it would be nice if a check engine light can on for me it idels fine just shift problems after replacing the vss on the pass side i drove it around the block and it shifts but it gets into over drive while going slow so it bucks like its in to high of a gear the shifting fast throught the gears kind of reminds me of driving in 4low how it shifts fast but driving down the road its not reving up like it is in 4low i wonders if a sensor the tells the comp the tc is in low (if there is one) might be bad
