Default 2000 blazer won't start

Hi guys, 2000 Chevrolet blazer 4x4, 2door here. Was headed to work the other day and she died on me. No chugging, just running to dead. Tried cranking it a couple times and after a few seconds it would kinda start and then immediately die. Previous to this I did have a ses light for a crankshaft to camshaft correlation and it would seem to sputter at very low speeds and jump at higher ones. Didn't do it all the time, just randomly. Fuel pump was replaced in September with an airtex one. Well after a mechanically inclined friend of a friend checked it out and after we took my starter off and successfully tested it on his truck, he said it was probably a defective fuel pump. Went and got a new ac Delco fuel pump, wired that in (wire came loose while installing so I had to drop it and do it again) and gave that a shot it seems to have not been the problem. Also checked out the fuel filter. Plugs wires, cap, and rotor done this summer. Any help or suggestions would be great.

If it cranks, but doesn't start it usually is either a fuel or ignition problem. Using starting fluid will tell you which. If it starts and runs for couple of seconds and then dies it's a fuel problem. If it still doesn't start at all it's an ignition problem. Start from there and see what happens.

FYI: Starting fluid is very powerful stuff and can damage an engine or cause harm to you or anyone that's to close. Use only very small amounts and spray it in the intake close to the manifold and seal it up so you don't get a vacuum leak. Or have someone that knows what they're doing do it for you, if you don't feel confident.
