Default 2000 envoy split year tranny interchange replacement

This is my first time posting to any forum like this, but I was going to see if anyone had any information on the transmission for my 2000 envoy/1999 jimmy. I just bought it not even a week ago and the transmission started messing up on it. At first I thought it was just a leak, so I bought some lucas stop slip/leak fix stuff and it ran pretty well the first day I had it in. It sat overnight and as I was taking my girlfriend to work, it decided that it didnt want to shift into 3rd gear. When it tries to, the RPMs go way up and it looses all power to the wheels, making it just coast. When I bought it the 4wd was out on it, but I didnt worry too much about it cause I wasnt going to use 4wd anyway.

The 2000 envoy is a split year because the name on the door and hatch says envoy, but if you look up the VIN it says its a 1999 jimmy. It has a 4.3 liter automatic, with auto 4wd engagement.

If anyone has any information about whats going on, how to fix it, and which gmc transmissions are interchangeable with mine, please let me know.

As long as it is for a 4.3 engine and set up for 4WD you will be safe 1997-2003. Good luck. Sounds like the dreaded 3-4 clutch failure. Time to replace or rebuild not the news you wanted to hear I’m sure.

The 98-00 envoys are a special edition of the jimmy. That's why it's titled as a jimmy, but badged as an envoy.

Only made for a few years- and as far as 2nd gen s-series go the envoy is one of the rarer models. I hunted for a while to find the front bumper and rear spoiler to put on my jimmy

Yeah ive been doing a bunch of research, and I found out that a 4.3 takes a 4L60.e and I found one that can out of an envoy at a salvage yard, they just want 375 in exchange for my old one. So how would I tell if its a bad tranny? Is there any warning signs that I should look out for?

You'd think they would've made it easier to get parts for by badging it with at least a j or something on the back.
