Im a nw member. I have owned my 2000 zr2 blazer for 5 years now and it has been very good to me until lately. I had developed a coolant smeel in the cab only right before the thermostat opens.i put the heat on and 10 seconds later the smell is gone. No fogging of windows or smell when i have the heater on cold, also lately after i shut it off the temp climbs to like 230-240 when i turn it on it shoots right back to normal, it runs just fine when running and normal temp all the time. Only gets hot after shut off. I have a new water pump, radiator and thermo in it,new upper and lower rad hoses and flushed the dex cool out 5 times before the was any problem at all switched over to green, any help please??????also i noticed that when i was bleeding the air from the system when the thermo opened up coolant wasnt circulating very much only a little bit.i never had to add cooland and its not leaking anywhere either, maybe new water pump is bad? Its a good one too

If the truck isn't overheating and the water pump isn't leaking then the water pump should be fine. All vehicles get hotter immediately after you shut them off. The coolant isn't circulating through the radiator anymore and the engine heat soaks. That's normal. Maybe the heater core is getting ready to bite the dust. I could get a slight smell of coolant inside mine then a few weeks later the fogging began lol.

Well the smell has been going on since last year sometime and nothing has happened yet.i flushed the core today and let the thermo open to bleed out the air and i noticed whgen the thermo opened coolant wasnt circulating through the radiator fins it was just sitting there not moving.what does that mean???
