Default 2003 S10 blazer transmission slipping

I have an automatic 2003 s10 blazer with about 75k miles on it and lately the transmission has disengaged from a gear (that it is going to switch into a higher gear) but it doesn't transfer into the gear for a few seconds. The feeling in those few seconds is like their is no power being transfered to the wheels (revving up in neutral) then after a few seconds it engages the gear and power is restored to teh wheels...
Any idea what is causing this problem and how much it would cost to fix it or how to fix it...

Go the cheap route first and change the fluid/filter; NOT A FLUSH and see how it is after that.If it still slips, it is new transmission time.[sm=smiley19.gif] The shop I deal with said to rebuild/replace a 4L60E runs around $1300-1500 with a pretty good warranty.DO NOT go to AAMCO!There are alot of good transmission shops around.

I am having the same problem with my 96'. It was disengaging from 2nd, but would miss 3rd and overspeed. It shifted fine under light load, but under heavy acceleration it would miss the shift, and I'd have to let the engine slow back down so it could get the gear.

The dealership in Jax FL found multiple codes in the engine and xmsn (Im not good about getting them cleared), and immediately quoted $2800 for an overhaul with a 12mo/12000mi warranty, or $3900 for a GM replacement with 100k warranty.

Instead I paid them $200 to change the fluid and filter, and clear all codes. Unfortunately, I still have the same problem.

I am still not convinced that the problem is mechanical and not electrical, or that the dealerships are taking the appropriate steps to diagnose properly. I have read this this forum and others and have learned about shift solenoids, torque converter cutouts, throttle position sensors, engine temperature sensor inputs, etc. So many components that can fail or send incorrect signals.

What to do now? Take it to another dealership and spend another $200 in diagnosis, or take my chances with an independent transmission shop that may not be equipped to diagnose sensor issues (nor do they have any vested interest in doing so)?
