I have been to Napa; O'Reilly, Car Quest, a local chevy dealer, online at Rockauto, Cardid, ebay, amazon, gmparts....cant find it, cant name it, or as chevy dealer told me "its not there; not called for".

This "rubber" is keeping me from putting it back together.

Any help greatly appreciated.

No marks on the rubber itself?

Nah, couldnt be that lucky....was one of the first things i checked after realizing that finding a replacement wasnt going well. Its brittle; cracked in 3 or 4 places and barely still inact. I'm thinking it is/was a bump buffer for the driveshaft or possibly some kinda wiper or dust shield. i just dont know and its holding up my whole reinstall...its been months and this is killing me...lol. Gonna find a flat rubber or o ring and put it on there and hope for the best. Thnx for your time and reply E 401

I'll have a look at my 1994 manual. Might come up with something.

Got a little bit for you. At least proper description. The drawing may help decide if you can source some other rubber seal.
It would lookt to me as if this seal is not the shaft seal itself but more of a dust seal.
If it is not rubbing against the shaft or the case it could be replaced by whatever you find suitable.

Maybe looking on the transfer and transmission guy's sites? A kit may contain the seal.

Thnx so much for all your efforts...I found out what it is. While on the assembly line at the factory its installed on the output shaft to keep the yoke from falling off. Its nothing...Went and talked to the owner of local transmission repair and rebuild shop. Told him make model and year and handed it to him and as soon as he saw it he started laughing. Told me I wasnt the first; that he had been thru this 4 or 5 times and knew immediately what it was when he saw it.
2 days of stress over this thing for nothing....
Eating a bowl of ice cream and then heading ot to garage to begin putting my truck back together. Thnx again bud.
